The Trump administration has a strange view on global politics. They want peace everywhere, but only on their terms and if not they'll resort to war rhetoric. It's so shortsightedly black and white, like the bully at school saying he won't beat you up if you give him your lunch money.
I hope they'll have the sense to be more nuanced when it involves matters where China has an interest in as well.

To be fair to Trump, many previous administrations didn't even pretend they wanted peace.
Trump is wildly ignorant and proud of it. The tariffs aren't a real plan, they're just something Trump thinks directly gets them money from other countries, and he likes looking like he's strong-arming people. Everything else is damage control from the people around him who actually know how they work.
The Supreme Court, for the cases decided on an ideological basis, aren't meant to have logical consistent jurisprudence that will apply if people in the outgroup brought a case. They will make it up as they go because they can.
The fascist playbook is rules for thee, not for me, and that is perfectly consistent.
There is a reason, though, for the Israel support. Their base of Evangelicals view a thriving Israel as necessary to bring about the end times. It also conveniently lets them funnel money to defense contractors, hurt Brown people, and once again, make Trump feel like a big man. It's gross and pathetic on top of being an affront to basic humanity.
