This NBC news video shows pictures of the AR aspect, for instance the moment the guy who caught a Pokemon - when his wife was giving birth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXs_Dp71zeQ

And LOL! in the middle of a police protest.

I'd be very interested in seeing what kind of Zelda game that Nintendo could make for the iPad. While it certainly would never trump a console version it would at least be interesting.

There's no need to imagine what it might look like, we have two touchscreen Zelda games already. No reason it wont be just as good but with better visuals, although I personally would prefer a dedicated handheld or home console version.

"Im mostly amazed how quickly this became so big. I literally had twenty something year old girl just walk up to me and my girlfriend at the park today and she says to us "UGH Ive been chasing a Lapras around for a half hour" Crazy times we live in."

There was a comment on GAF that made me smile and feel sad at the same time. I can't remember it exactly but after all the stories about people getting exercise, making new friends and helping people with anxiety and depression the quote was "Glad to see Iwata's quality of life app doing so well".

"Experienced my first mass lure / social event tonight. People everywhere, I even parked next to an SES crew (emergency workers) who were playing. After cleaning up big, catching a Slowpoke with my last Pokeball and levelling to 10 in the process, I drove for home. Before taking off I took a look at the map ahead, and saw 3 Pokestops clustered in a weird, quiet location.

I pulled up there, and was able to hit 2 stops from my car. The third looked like it was down in a swamp. I got out, and saw a group looking in that direction. They didn't know where it was either, so I said I was going for it. It was literally down a sketchy unlit path in heavy woods. They followed, all of us laughing, and we found it. Then they said they were completely new, and asked how to find Pokemon. I sent them back up to the lure party at the harbour to have their minds blown. That was fucking awesome! "

"I had a pretty incredible journey tonight. Started out looking for an Abra, then some drunk bum flagged me down. She walked about a mile with me fascinated as I told her about what I was doing lol. Miss Betty was also pretty psyched to see someone actually rollerblading! She then talked for a while since I stopped at a bus station to catch something. After she finished I got up, she gave me 2 dollars and said thanks for making her night. Nobody stops to talk, lol. Nice lady. Then I cruised around for like an hour and a half more, found Ninetails behind Denny's and ran into some kid catching pokemon barefoot. He was just walking around in the street lmao. Hilarious. I told him about Ninetails and he sprinted off. I then found Charmander while taking a detour back home and shortly after bulbsaur. Tonight has been good."

"So I've chalked up 32 kilometers so far, damn this app got me off my ass. Love smoking up some, hopping on the bike and just cruising around.

Had my first huge run in with other players today. Decided to check out my smallas town's park/tourist trap since I figured there'd be a ton of pokestops. There was, and a shit ton of people too. Lures were everywhere, people walking back and forth talking about what they were catching. At one point I see the outline of a Ponyta pop up which I had never seen before. Everyone else pretty much sees it at the exact same time, and people start spreading out looking for it. Me and a small group find it first, and word moves fast as everyone starts heading toward it. Easily the craziest thing I've ever seen in gaming.

I think my favorite thing was my GFs reaction who has no interest in it at all, when everyone start shouting "Ponyta" and stuff she just looked so bewildered. Don't blamer he, even as someone who likes the game it's really odd."

"On my way home I saw so many people walking a few steps, stopping, turning around and walking in another direction, stopping, repeating. I realised, holy crap, Pokemon GO is turning people into NPCs..."

All right, I've found fourteen unique Pokemon at Walmart and Lowe's.  The Chinese restaurant had a Meowth.  Tsk tsk.

Grand Rapids, Michigan; Rosa Parks Circle at Midnight:

"There are four PokeStops here and someone is always using a Lure on all of them. Caught 4 Jynx, countless Gastlys, Seels, Jigglypuffs, and Clefairies because of it.

What's up with Team Valor? Must have had 3-4 cars passing by, rolling down their windows, just to shout that. lol "

"I saw a Charmander was in my area, so I popped outside with my barely charged phone for a look, and saw another 20 something bloke cruising around with thongs on who had clearly popped out to try his luck too. Considering the weather we're having here in Adelaide, its crazy how many people are on board this. "

"Man this game is big. What a time to be alive lol. It's almost midnight and a nearby park with 10 landmarks were empty. I put down one lure on a landmark that I could reach from my apartment and 10 minutes later, about 5 lures popped up! There are people runing around a park at midnight responding to a lure I put up in my pajamas! "

"I went out for dinner at 6.

Came back at 10 PM after meeting a group of dudes (taught them about evolving for free exp farming), then a group of girls, then a group of high school students. Then I walked around with another group of girls for close to three hours as we started with a chase for what we now believe to have been a ghost pikachu (on which we were sent by yet another group of girls who told us about it). We chased it for close to thirty minutes without ever figuring out where it was but it was definitely on our radars for a long time, then we sat down with 20-30 people at a triple-stop with lures and everything was Magikarps. Magikarp for you, Magikarp for me. Magikarp! I think we all caught at least fifteen Magikarps in the time for the lures.

Also servers crashed for a while.

Then our phones died, finally, and we eventually went our separate ways! I even got a phone number. "

"Fucking cops came and kicked everyone out of the park saying it's closed. Everyone was there playing Pokémon Go. There is no posted sign saying that the park closes at a certain time."

"Cops played with all of us last night. There was like 80 people at the park at 11pm. They seemed to be having a great time"

"This is crazy. There are more kids outside on a random summer Monday night playing Pokemon Go than were trick or treaters this last Halloween "

CBS News

"There's a strip club and attached bar about three blocks from my house. The strip club is a gym. The bar is a PokéStop. Someone just dropped a lure there at like 9 PM."

"I drove into King's Park last night at around 8:00pm. It was an incredibly surreal experience. The whole place was packed, there were hardly any car spots, and everyone was huddled around in packs looking at their phones. I left at around 10:30pm and there were more cars lining the road, most of them illegally parked up on the curb. It was a sight to behold.

This is what we've become."

"Had the most surreal experience this evening. Boyfriend and I went for a walk with this and we went towards a lure that was nearby, outside a tall building. After a few minutes of us standing there a guy opened the window and told us to fuck off and stop using his lure.

Magical. "

"So I was playing Pokemon Go around my mall, and this cute grill comes up to me and asks me if I know where the Electabuzz was, so I told her "Yeah, I found it a bit over there by the mechanic!" And she asked me if I could take her to it.

So I took the cute grill to the Electabuzz, and she asked if she could stick around and we'd walk together. So I said sure. We walked and caught a few commons for like 40 minutes, and we talked and stuff. My battery was close to dying, so I told her I'm gonna head home. She wanted my number and she wanted us to do a date perhaps and just go catch Pokemon.

I said sure and took her number, and said goodbye.

Guys I didn't think I'd see her ever again. So I lied to her to make myself not seem like a loser. :c I told her I live in my own apartment, go to University, and I own this nice car. I live with my parents, I actually don't attend school right now, and My car is a POS and the car I was driving was my sister since mine was taken by my father to get an oils change."

EDIT: He caught up with her:

"Lol my girlfriend told me to "stop fucking texting me". Apparently there is a scyther nearby. Laughing so hard."

"Ha. My mom just texted me:

"People are walking in the street holding out their phones like they're searching for gold. It's the Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

Also realized

Last night my dad installed the game and picked Squirtle. He's 72.

This afternoon my sister found a Staryu in a fountain after installing the apk on vacation in Dublin. She's 42.

This morning my nephew, who just got his first smartphone, installed the game and got a Horsea. I don't have one -_-. He's 12"

"Best story for last I guess. Saturday was mostly rainy / misty out all day so it was quiet except for some runners and a few pokemon trainers. This girl I know from the gym happened to be jogging around and we bumped into one another while I was looping around to hit all the pokestops. She would shout something over to me everytime she lapped around and then flash me a smile. On her way out of the park she ran past me while I was cleaning out a gym. We get to talking and now and now we have a date scheduled for this week. Pokemon Go is the new Tinder"

"Oh wow if you have Snapchat, one of the new live stories is "PokeMania". I saw it quoted on a news broadcast this morning too, apparently people are using Pokemon Go on average for 43 minutes, 20 seconds....which is more than Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat by far."

"so I'm off work today, but we had a team lunch to welcome a new guy to the team so I went in for that to be a nice team playery kinda guy. Since I was playing PoGo all weekend I considered this my dreary temporary return to actual reality, no more talking about Pokemon for 90 minutes.

10 minutes in lunch my coworker asks me, "so have you been playing that new Pokémon thing." "Yeeeeep..." Her fiance has been non-stop. He's Team Instinct and thus dead to me, but he turns out to be one of the guys who traded the Ikea Gym with me on Saturday so that's hilarious. Another coworker chimes in and says her kids won't stop playing it, they keep asking her to make weird turns in the car so they can collect stuff. My boss says her husband has been playing it and driving her crazy.

The others at the table haven't heard about it but are interested in why it's so big and I explain the basics. "So you actually have to get off your ass to play it"? ha

It is EVERYWHERE."

Westboro Baptist Church recruits Jigglypuff, a Pokémon, against LGBT community on Pokémon Go

A battle may be looming between some Pokémon Go users and the Westboro Baptist Church.

The new augmented reality game, which connects to a user's phone GPS, sent fans wandering to their local parks, historical landmarks and churches — including the Westboro Baptist Church. As people across the country devoted their weekends to catching Pokemon, one user noticed that the church, known for its opposition to the LGBT movement, was listed as a gym on Pokemon Go.

So that user claimed it, using a Pokemon named Clefairy. Its nickname is "LoveIsLove."

The Westboro Baptist Church is fighting back, using one of the most commonly known Pokémon: Jigglypuff.

"I tagged along with a coworker for a stroll with my pokemon Go open so I could grab pokestop items and capture random pokemon.

As we were walking back I caught a Slowpoke as we were passing some building. We turned the corner and saw a group of 4 professional looking people standing shoulder to shoulder looking down at their phones in frustration. My co-worker and I just glanced at each other and realized they must be on PokemonGo.

Then one of them said "I know it must be somewhere here the slowpoke has to be in this area".

I laughed and walked up to them and told them "I just caught a slowpoke, it's around the corner over there"

They all smiled, said thanks and jogged off to get it.

It was by far one of the strangest, unique, and coolest gaming moments I've had in a long time. I know a lot of GAF won't want to embrace this game or games of its' style but it is definitely a game-changer. Like this game hasn't officially released in Canada yet and I'm already seeing tongs of people playing it outside and beacons lured up all over the Toronto Financial District

Also another 2 weird moments I had was last friday when me and two friends were walking back from a rib festival and my friend stopped on the sidewalk to catch a pokemon. A jeep drove by and the back window was rolled down. As it drove by I could hear a kid screaming "OMMGGG POKEEEEMONN". We continued walking up the street and two girls walked past us talking about what pokemon they caught to each other. It was such a surreal experience seeing kids enamored with a game that isn't even officially out yet. The game is definitely resonating with the younger generation a lot more than I expected it would and I'm glad it is. "

It isn't available on Windows phone so if he gets it he would have to borrow a phone from someone.

This is taking it too far:

"Kinda funny, walking up to one of the local pokestops I spotted a kid hanging out next to it dressed all in red. I bet he was Valor. I was dressed in all blue/navy repping Mystic. Would've been amazing if we could've battled each other there."

"On this note, I had my first Pokémon Go-related confrontation yesterday:

I was walking through a parking lot across the street from where I live because there was supposedly a Nidoking nearby. While I was standing in the middle of the lot and getting my bearings, a security guard came up to me and told me (not asked me) to leave. Normally I would have, but he came at me with a lot of attitude. So I told him what I was doing and that it was public property (which it was) and that I wasn't doing anything wrong. Then he told me I had to leave just because he said so, so I laughed at him and told him I would leave when I was done.

So he drives away, and having not found the Nidoking, I started to leave. Then he confronts me again at the exit to the lot and tells me people like me are the reason we're seeing these murders and stuff. He says it with a lot of foul language and racial slurs, so I look him in the face and call him unprofessional, and that pisses him off. He starts on a profanity-laced tirade while I walk away, confident I didn't do anything wrong and that I handled myself the best I could.

The worst part is, I never found the Nidoking :-/"

"anyone hear about that chicago gathering this weekend? 5,000 people signed up as going and another 10,000 as a possibly going.....holy fuck!!!"

"My Girlfriend and I went down to the park last night and it was unlike anything I've ever seen. There were probably at least a thousand people there playing this. There's like 10 Pokestops and a bunch of gyms along Tempe town Lake. All the pokestops were lured and people were just walking from one end of the walk to the other.

People of all backgrounds were cooperating and yelling out where the good pokemon were and people that obviously aren't used to exercising were getting it. Was a great time.

There were so many people I was actually surprised to not see any cops, not that any were needed."

LOL

This one is amazing: https://twitter.com/CatchEmAlI/status/752500819694645248

And this: https://twitter.com/CatchEmAlI/status/752175854520832000

Girl found a human body in the river while chasing one down and her response was...

Wiggins told KCWY, "I was really scared." She did, though, add that she would go back to the river to find her water Pokemon."

^holy crap

"That moment when the cops are in your way when you try to catch a ratata. i had to go over to a bench and get it but i was so focused on my game that i allmost bumped into 4 cops with body armor and guns <.< lol"

"Just got home from a wedding weekend. The night before, the groom and a bunch of us spent hours outside walking around a lake and around his neighborhood pokehunting. A few kids on bikes passed and someone in our party shouted, "pokemon go?!" The boys laughed, nodded and held up their phones on their way by. During the reception a bunch of people stepped out for "smokes and go." At a gas station on my way to the cabin I rented, an older lady walks in after me and immediately says "gotta catch'em all!" The clerk laughs and tells her, "welcome back." I asked the older lady if she was playing Go and she exclaims, "yeah, I love this game!" The clerk holds up her phone and shows us she's also playing. The other clerk behind her does the same. I tell them about my Go filled wedding weekend and we all laugh in some weird moment of camaraderie. A black dude, an older white lady and two gas station workers.

Finally, I make it to the forest my cabin is located and after settling in I notice the place has no cell signal but strong wifi. So I step out to Go a bit, despite it being near pitch dark and midnight. I immediately regret this decision after a few minutes when I hear loud rustling from nearby bushes. Well shit, I imagine I'm about to be bear or coyote or raccoon mauled. Instead a tall (and rather attractive) dudebro emerges from the trees with a bright phone in hand,a leaf and a twig sticking out of his hair. My relief at avoiding death by bear gives way to amazement. "...are you freakin playing Pokemon Go?!" He laughs, knocks the debris out of his hair and says, "Fuck yeah. I just caught a 135 Eevee." "Right on, me too!" We briefly chat for a bit before continuing on in separate directions.

Later, in bed, it hits me that this weekend was the most amazing, novel and unusual gaming experience I've ever had in my entire life. The diverse range of people I met playing this game, how insanely ubiquitous it already seems to be, how it's managing to get so many people OUTSIDE and exploring... it legit feels like the pokemon universe come to life."

"I've met and talked to more people in my neighborhood in the last few days playing Pokemon than I have in over a year. Not just kids either, all ages minus seniors. I'd say 40 and down. Someone set a lure up at our neighborhood stop and it was just a gathering place the whole day."

"What a crazy phenomenon this is. I went walking around the university 10pm at night, saw atleast 5 other groups of people walking around with their phones out talking about pokemon. Went to the lake, there was a lure spot, and completely packed with cars. Went near the river, and saw people catching pokemon. He saw me on my phone and waved and pointed at his phone, i waved back. What a time to be alive. "

I would have to borrow my fathers spare Xperia which has like a 6 inch screen. And he wouldn't lend it to me. I would get it if I could. Looks fun.

I have literally spent most of today reading Go stories.

So they put water pokemon near rivers and lakes? Do they put Eletric Pokemon near power stations? And do they use real gyms as Pokemon gyms?

That would be too funny.

One thing that I have learned from all the stories is that someone drops a lure and it attracts Pokemon which in turn attracts gatherings of people. We've seen armed robberies which are bad enough. But what does happen when some terrorist asshole sets down a lure then kills people? Or when some douche kidnaps a kid using a lure? It's going to be crazy.
