I haven't seen A Scanner Darkly, no. I didn't read a single review of the thing that wasn't scathing so I thought it would probably be a waste of time.
I saw it without knowing what it was so had no expectations, but that aspect of it was a bore to me.
It's by no means a great film, but definitely worth seeing if you dig the style. It's certainly a better adaptation of Dick than Blade Runner.

I own that film and can say I like it. Not in my top so-many, but enjoyable enough to watch every now and then. And I agree that the visual style adds a lot to the appeal, it would not be the same movie without it.
Reminds, me, there was a time I had access to them. I took them all day long. I remember liking to take them when I was on my way to work to slow me down so people at work did not bother me.
I had my first sci fi dream recentely. It was like Alien and I was hiding in a closet from an alien.
Outside of sleep paralysis, my worst nightmares are what I classify as open water/space dreams, where I'm either drifting around at sea or in outer space. The feeling of weightlessness and isolation is unsettling, but entering the presence of large bodies, be they planets or huge sea creatures, sets me over the edge. These might cause me to wake me up screaming, though once the experience is over, I'm immediately calm and relieved, and don't have much trouble going back to sleep.
Listen to Iced Earth and play Doom

Damnnn. Stone cold.
I take amitriptiline for back pain and it also helps me sleep. One or two pills, take them early evening because you'll be hung over the next morning otherwise. They aren't addictive to me. But are a Godsend when the back is particularly bad.
