I remember my family playing Atari 2600. They didn't get the NES until I was around 2 since they had Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt. Everyone in my family gamed. I remember when I was between the ages of 4 and 8 my mom spent most of the day sitting in a rocking chair playing Tetris, Dr. Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Donkey Kong Country, and Super Mario All-Stars.

I think it was my brother's girlfriend's giant mammoth tits on my bed playing my NES in the middle of the night that I would wake up to that got me into gaming.
That's the best reason ever. 
I think it was the local fairground where they had an arcade section with the old Star Wars arcade game.
My story? Okay. It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin' on the porch with my family, singin' and dancin' down in Mississippi... we'd only pretend to play video gams since when the evening news came on. My Dad totally kicked butt with Dan Rather. I would try to pretend to play when the Saturday morning cartoons came on, but I always chose Wile E. Coyote and I would end up dying over and over again. Eventually when I graduated highschool in 1995 I got a brand new Atari 5200 and the rest as they say was history.

Not counting the rare times when I'd get to play a Space Invaders clone, I first got into it when I went into the lounge one night and saw a small group of people playing GoldenEye 007, and then I got to play it the next day. I continued to play GoldenEye until 12 years later I got an HDTV that ruined the experience. I have also wrestled Chavo played other games.

Back in late 1979, my parents decided to vist one of their friends. Those friends had a boy about my age (around 6), and he asked me if I wanted to play Atari. I had no idea what an "Atari" was, but said yes anyway. He handed me a one of two paddle controllers, plugged in a cartridge called "Breakout, and set it to two-players. What I saw on his TV, absolutely blew my fucking mind. I loved playing board and card games when I was little, but my family lived far outside the small town that I grew up in, so I rarely could have friends over. I was by myself on most weekends, and my parents were usually too busy to play games with me. However, here was a game that could be played with only one player if I chose! Breakout is still one of my favorite games of all time too. 
It took me nearly three years of begging, but on my 9th birthday, my parents finally bought me my very own Atari 2600 system. And the first video game I ever owned was "Combat" . . .*light shines down from the heavens* . . . which was a two player-only game. 
I would actually play Combat by myself just so I could feel like a badass and beat the shit out of player 2.

How did you discover the wonderful hobby of gaming? What was your first experience like? I remember two early experiences. I can remember going to daycare, at my cousins and watching him play Asteroids. I spent the longest time shooting asteroids, but never figured out that the ship didn't have to stay stationary. I about died from laughter when my cousin started moving the ship.
I can also remember going to the local Food Lion and eyeing the Donkey Kong cabinet. There was a grocery stocker who played the game. He was awesome. Well, at least to a five year old, he was a fantastic player. I couldn't get over how crazy the action was. Of course, I'd lose my game almost immediately after putting in a quarter. But I was hooked...a gamer forever.
