Fear not Archie. I am playing more of Skyrim right now than Dogma, but I'll be back to this game shortly too... I am enjoying this way too much to let this one go! Your impressions? I see you on Live playing this quite a bit!

This game is just sooooooo good. I'm totally loving it. Graphics look fantastic in most areas. My Sorcerer pawn is kicking ass with spells like raining meteors down from the sky, summoning tornadoes, creating glacial ice spikes, etc. She seems to get well used from other players as well. This game is like the best of both Skyrim and Monster Hunter with more satisfying gameplay then either. It's such a beautifully crafted game world to just explore in as well.

Couple of things I feel like mentioning, both likes and dislikes:

  • This may be kinda morbid of me, but I LOVE how the big enemies kinda decompose in front of your eyes. First their skin melts away, then muscles, then bones are left for a while. Cool!
  • I --LOVE-- how you can somewhat COMBINE MAGIC! If you are a Mystic Knight  and you use a Fire/Ice/Holy/Lightning Enchant spell on your weapon, then you cast Magic Cannon or Perilous Sigil, they take on the element of your weapon! Makes taking out groups SOOO much easier!
  • I --HATE-- how some quests JUST. WON'T. TRIGGER. sometimes! I am in the area of the Hillfigure Knoll, trying to hunt a Griffen, and the damn thing WON'T spawn!  Argh!
  • I was almost carried off by a Snow Harpy at one point. She lifted me up high enough where the drop would have been fatal, but I still was struggling before realizing that. When she dropped me, my main pawn leapt up and CAUGHT me mid air! THAT WAS COOL! The best thing of all is: my main Pawn is Arya Stark, so, naturally, she is a little girl! Seeing her leap up and catch me was as freakin' hilarious as it was awesome!
  • I really don't get the whole thing with the Duke and LENORE! He should HATE me, but he speaks to me like I'm a hero and just opened his treasury for me. Will his behavior be explained eventually? Weird!
  • With as much as the Pawns --CAN-- learn, it's strange what they cannot. Saying the same things about the same enemies 60 hours into the game is kinda getting played out at this point. Yes, I know Goblins i'll like fire. Yes, I know to set Harpies wings ablaze. Yes, it's a Large Tree. We already KNOW who the Knight's Champion is you MORON! SHUT! UP! ARRRRGGGGHHHH ! ! !

The game does have a few minor DMC like features to it in the battle system. Tapping the button may do one attack. Holding the buttons may do another. Tapping the button, delaying a second then tapping the button again, will yield yet another type of combo-ed attack. There are special skills that will throw your enemies straight up in the air where you may then leap up and attack mid-air. There are magic spells like the Perilous Sigil where any enemy that steps into the spells ring gets struck with a spell, depending on how light they are and how much damage they can endure they can (and will be) Juggled! Typical, classic Capcom-ie stuff!

Yeah the dialog does get too repetitive. There is a lot of cool touches in the game like your pawn catching you. I was just taking a break once and my pawn came up to my character, who was just standing still, and the pawn leaned over and waved their hand in front of my face. It was in the fashion of saying, "Hello? Anyone there?" to someone who is standing still just staring out in front of them. I've also heard that when fighting a Cockatrice a pawn will sometimes yell out, "It has the head of a Cock!". Hilarious. LOL

I had a pretty epic battle with a Hydra last night. A couple of times he got me in his jaws and tried to swallow me whole but I managed to break free. I kept chopping off his heads but they grew back faster then I could have them all cut off at the same time. Finally did it and had all his heads chopped off where I was able to cause MASSIVE DAMAGE. Nyaa

Part of me wishes that enemies and rewards/loot scaled in New Game + mode similar to Demon's Souls/Dark Souls but another part of me appreciates mowing through the small fry guys and toppling the bigger foes more quickly so I can get down to the looting for better items faster. I've currently started NG++ now.

I've been having a lot of fun with the game. Too much maybe? I'm just under 60 hours and not done yet! I am about to go to the Great Wall to fight against Salvation. I am around Level 45 or so, but as an example of relative power levels... I tried to fight the Drake in DevilFire Grove last night... and got my ASS. KICKED!

Yeah I didn't take down the Drake in Devil Fire's grove until NG+. I'm currently at level 93. I think you level maxes out at 200.
