You probably didn't notice, but there's a wall surrounding the greater area where my main structure stands. It is only one cobblestone high so far, but it's a start! There are trees at the four corners of the wall and I had to dig through some mountains and divert past some rivers to build it!

I noticed immediately.
I put my bed in the second floor in the middle, super well lit, and it worked for the first night. The second night I was attacked again. So now I built a stone wall around my bed and I can finally sleep, I had to axe my way out of the bed though 
My house is next to a giant ass mine where I hear horrible monsters moaning constantly. I just started exploring the mine, it has a ton of iron and lava.

All this game needs is actual an actual gameplay side to it. All the creations people make are incredible but what do you do with them except look at them and say how pretty. Imagine if you can make a sort of level or people entering your game. Give them a sword and a quest and make them fight monsters and solve puzzles and explore your world. It would be like LBP but in minecraft form. I feel they missed out big time. Imagine if me and Travo entered Leo's game and we had to help him defend his castle from hordes of enemies, and there were ways to throw down stones from the top down, there was decent combat, etc. Then after the fighting you still have all the usual mining stuff to do.
Adventure mode is coming. In it, you gain experience, level, you can enchant your equipment, there are more monsters and an End Boss. Don't know if there's a cooperative mode or not (I am trying to avoid reading the Wiki) but you'll soon be able to put that armor and your sword to good use! Only thing I am iffy on is: I heard you NEED to eat. If it's the kind of thing where your life goes down if you don't... no like. If it's the kind of thing where your hearts replenish if you are fed... better, but still questionable.

Or, you can dump buckets of Lava into water.
Not only does it look cool, Obsidian is the only way to build a portal into the Nether. It is a dark and scary world where the soil can be made into blocks that when lit, burn forever. There are Glow Stones you can gather powder from that, in turn, can be brought back into your world and reformed to make Glowing blocks that illuminate areas well and will melt snow and ice, even underwater! There are a few more monsters in the Nether too, I believe!

Just get a few Iron Bars and make a Bucket. You can gather Lava from the Lava source block and then just dump that in any water.
