I was not comparing to Mario per se, just picking it as the archtypal "game" for most folks.
I am going to have to look up on youtube if there are any videos of people playing flower where they show the controller. I was trying to use it the way the "instructions" showed at the start of the game. In retrospect, I did look like those people in motion controller ads on TV (ie fuckfaces who clearly are not playing anything, just waving their arms around like a [insert tastelesss simile, involves strobe lights].
EDIT: Oh and yeah, if your co-op buddy sucked then your experience would have sucked, but usually they don't stay for the whole game and someone else will appear (seamlessly). I played with three people it turned out, thought it was only one person the whole time.
bugsonglass said:Thanks for that. I understand you much better now, and I'm in agreement. It is a bit "thin" as a game, because it lacks those things you said. Fair enough. I'm still pleased to have played it (or watched it if you prefer). In fact I intend to make my girlfriend sit and watch me play it again tonight as I think she will really enjoy watching it ... but she is useless with the controller so I will have to do the walking for her.
It's funny that the guy quit, I thought it was the fastest or best selling PSN game or something. Maybe he feels things can only go down for him from now on
F****** loser shooting is a matter of skill, killing enemies gives you andrenaline. Walking is like waiting for your plane, it is boring. But you dont need to pay to wait for the plane. You pay for the plane. So where remaines the part you did pay for. Oh wait it is not there. So go back to the promised country. Maybe moses will take you, like he did with the others. I bet they liked the slavery better than the walking
Yeah, I hope so. At the beggining i couldn't believe there was no fighting. Also metacritic can't classify this game "action".
this way i can make money too. My next game is called black screen

lol. "Hasn't been allowed" They disbanded is all.
Am I right in remembering that you fucking liked Flower?
How can they have disbanded if it was just announced they're making 'Sky' for iOS?
And yes I did like Flower, but to make an entirely accurate comparison, not everything the Nazis did was bad. But we are not going to remember them for that stuff now are we?
Journey is the kind of game you make when all you know how to do is design graphics with zero gameplay involved.
I disagree that all games should include intensive gameplay. If it's interactive and there's a win condition, it's a game. I think it's great that the advent of digital distribution and the indie scene allows for a broader palette of gameplay and emotional opportunities. Saying that these kinds of games are inferior by definition is in my opinion narrow minded. It insinuates a feeling of 'these are not true games, these should not be able to run on my PS4/Xbone/Switch', which of course is absurd. This is no different from when the Wii brought 'casuals' to our beloved hobby and many were terrified that they'd change gaming for the worse.
What I do object to however, is how these more personal, artsy games seem to get a free pass on many gaming sites, where they'll get attention and a respectable score because of what they set out to do and in spite of their often lacking underlying systems.

I do not have to agree with you to be able to find that comment hilarious.

They did.

Shit gameplay.
It seems wrong of me to try and retort when I haven't played the game in over a year, but I'm going to give it a shot.
1. Clearly you're drunk again.
2. Are you really comparing the activities of the original Mario Bros (super or otherwise) to this game? And even that statement isn't accurate because there's still methods of attacking, coin collecting, and throwing fireballs (if we're talking Super Mario Bros). But if you need to compare why this game is superior to an 8-bit game (and let's face it, it's not), the arguement is already over. On that note Combat for the 2600 is also better than Journey.
3. Glad you enjoyed the co-op. While it may provide a good experience at times, it's just as likely to add a meaningless one or even a negative one particularly if you have a partner like me. The first time I played it I started a level without a partner, so I pushed pause and walked away. Unfortunately I forgot the game doesn't really have a pause feature and when I got back I noticed that a partner did eventually join me and completed the level on his own. I'm pretty sure I offered nothing in the way of his co-op experience, and I may have even pissed him off for doing so. And I bet that guy went on to write a nasty review of the game too.
4. And stop complaining about FlOwer just because you didn't like the controls. The controls were fine. There wasn't a thing wrong with them. As long as you weren't exaggerating your movements with the controller it handled fine. Once again.... clearly you were drunk. Or possibly detoxing.

Robio... shitty gaming partner since 2012
