If you try to do the sidequests before unlocking the Tuchanka planet, then you will have to swap a lot. Wait until that planet is unlocked before doing everything in the galaxy.

Nah I need a new CPU don't even have a dual core, my Harddisc is old too WD 120 Cavier still works great but its still IDE I really need new everything my 10 year old DVD drive just died. So I would probably scrap everything but my Cooler master case. Have to new MB, NEW ram, NEW PSU, everything.

I don't think mine is either. No worries...I wouldn't be playing it until I finish Mass Effect 2 anyway. I go on vacation friday for a week, and I have wednesday and thursday off before that as regular days off. So I have over a week of nothing but gaming coming up in a few days.

Considering how well Bioware know the 360 hardware though...I really can't see them designing the game this way. Changing discs every mission? That would destroy the game. If they ARE stupid enough to do that, I am twice as glad I am going with the PC version.
I found that out in January when I was playing the career mode. It didn't look any different from 2003, so I don't know what happened from one year to the next.
I'm also not believeing any of this until more people have the game in hand. It sounds nuts.

Even if its true it's still not that big deal.... I mean really is swapping a disc a few times really going to strain you that much? If it is that big a deal just get the PS3 version and start your character over problem solved. So many other things to worry about other than this.
