Of course they are endagered. And together with the fact that most HDTVs make all SD content look like dog vommit, it makes it easy for Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft to make easy bucks by bringing out HD collections of the old PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, etc games.

Smart people.

Smart people don't like to see beautiful images and advances in tech?
If advances in tech result in older games looking like shit then it's stupid to throw away old tech for the sake of new looking games.

No its stupid for a company to make a console that doesn't support the same tech everyone is now using. There is not one SD TV in my house, they take up space, they are garbage.

Meh, Nintendo can release what they like, and clearly it wasn't a stupid decision given the WIi's sales and profit margin.
If you buy it knowing it'll look crap on an HDTV then it's your fault and not Nintendo's.

They can release what they like but they deserve all the shit they get cause making the Wii non HD is a horrible crappy move. Yeah maybe it saved them some money but at the expense of us. It is all Nintendo's fault that wiis look like ass on what the TVs that now dominate the market. No person in their right mind is going to downgrade their TV for a console, horrible foresight by Nintendo. I dont care that it has GC graphics, if it just had HD support it would look fine.

So why do TV manufactures not get more shit from you? Because they know that some programs will be SD, they know people have content like games and old DVDs in SD. You can blame Nintendo for not having and foresight, but this does not require and foresight what so ever.

There is no downgrade if you have the foresight to keep an SDTV. If you are to blame a corporate entity(s) then as Iga is implying it should really be HDTV manufacturers.

Simple answer, have a cheapo smallish SDTV just for Wii, use the plasma for everything else.
Wii looks good enough on my HDTV....I really don't care if it looks slightly better on a CRT, because the graphics aren't going to come close to the others either way. Anyway, Wii is just about Vaporware now for everyone who actually know about gaming, so it doesn't matter.
Dvader I thought you had played Splinter Cell cuz I saw it on your 360 games list...my bad. Don't get Rage btw....I played 6 hours into it only to come across a game ending glitch in the shape of a door that won't open. Its like a worse version of Borderlands anyway, and I didn't even think Borderlands was all that great.
Oh nice pickup on Tomb Raider Anniversary....its a great remake. All the TR games on 360 are pretty cheap now btw.
I've compared Wii on my HDTV to my CRT. It looks a bit more jaggy on my HDTV, but otherwise it looks about the same. Oh, and my 20 inch CRT weighs more than my 32 inch LCD! CRT sucks.

Am I seriously in crazy land where people are trying to defend Nintendo for making SD console in an HD era. No, they are to blame, no one should have to change TVs to play some game console.
BTW the Wii looks much better on my new HDTV but still no where close to the HD remakes.

Answer the post I wrote, before you call other people crazy.

The TV manufactures are the ones advancing the tech, they are doing their job. Everyone else needs to catch up and adapt. Almost all channels are in HD now and almost every movie is on bluray. SD will not exist in a few years, it needs to be erased from existance.

You can't be serious.
A lot of films aren't on DVD let alone Blu-ray FFS.
And that's not to mention all the films that aren't on VHS, but that's irrelevent as a TV won't be much use to those I suppose.
Oh well, enjoy the future without a history.
