They don't make hard adventure games anymore I'm afraid. Sad Most of the puzzles are still pretty fun to figure out, though. But the main thing is that it's a really good Agatha Christie/'50s/'60s cinema pastiche in terms of tone. And Zellner>gay dude for progressive character in video games of 2013.

It's the Agatha Christie vibe that has me particularly interested in it. One of my favorite series from my days of PC adventure gaming was the Lara Bow Mysteries (if you can call 2 games a series). They were very clearly inspired by Agatha Christie stories and I'd play them over several times just to make sure I really figured everything out.

Probably worth checking out then. Bear in mind there's a big mystery/thriller cinema influence too, but as long as you don't go into it expecting 90% Christie you should be fine.

I wouldn't dismiss those first two seasons of South Park. It's easy to see it as just another vulgar crudely animated cartoon these days (which it probably is), but when it first came out it was a completely original idea and was really good at pushing the envelope. And back then there was more focus on just bizarre strange humor, without attempts of political or social commentary, which was really for the better I think.

Hmm, it's entirely possible I've never seen any episodes from the first two seasons.  I've seen < 5 in my life, and those were basically the mediocre "haha, poop and swearing" I expected.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

I have only seen one episode of South Park: the Wii episode. It was pretty good. I think I'll just keep it at that one, though.

I stopped watching South Park after the Wii episode. But my brother told me to watch the three "Game of Thrones" Black Friday episodes of South Park and they are trying to choose between an Xbox One and PS4 at Black Friday.

SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:

Those ones are pretty funny. (Maybe a spolier?>>WinkWink At the end of the last episode, the boys become slightly let down by the hype vs. the reality of the new consoles and decide to swear off video games. Cartman picks up a stick from the ground and says "F*** 'em!" to video games, at which point The Stick of Truth's boxart appears and the narrator says "The South Park video game: coming soon!" I'd honestly completely forgotten about it until that moment, but if it actually comes out I'll give it a shot for sure. I have no expectations whatsoever.

I hadn't watched South Park in at least twelve or thirteen years before the most recent season, and re-runs are on all the time. I have 137 eps sitting on my PVR right now.

I have no idea when or if the PS4 will become appealing enough to me in price and content this year. So I'll mostly be picking up a few older 360 games and the few U exclusives. I still have a backlog it would take a year to clear.

Smart move.

I just saw that The Raven is being released on the PS3. I may have to pick that up. I'm a little weary playing a point-and-click adventure game on a console, but Foolz was pretty impressed with it if I recall (correct me if I'm wrong Foolz). I think I'm way overdue for an adventure game like that.

Yeah me too, hope it gets physical release down here.

What is Pillars of Eternity and why are you hot for it?

It's one of those Kickstarter funded RPGs. After I've finished Planescape: Torment I expect to get into more games of its kind, and this one looks like it should be interesting. I'm a bit more interested in Torment: Tides of Numenera, but that comes out next year.

Isometric crowfunded cRPG developed by Obsidian and with a golden-age RPG era team involved including Josh Sawyer (NWN2) as director and Chris Avellone (Planescape: Torment).

I'll probably get it. I love those type of games.

Probably because South Park hasn't been funny since the game was announced, which I believe was 1999.

That implies it was funny before that

I cringe a lot in general, so SP has never been more funny than cringe-worthy to me. But at somepoint I was interested in the RPG.

Flapping is the right word. All that jetlag means he goes limp constantly. Too tired to get hard.

He's just trying to prove his heterosexual manhood at the moment, and admitting how handsome and charismatic Bo is might make people think he's a homosexual.
