Wow this game has hit a new gear and its just incredible. I loved everything about the area before the third dungeon, yes the lines between overworld and dungeon are blurred. Every moment on the surface is designed gameplay. There is no aimless wandering, no wasting time, it is constant great game design. This is like the Mario Galaxy of Zelda games, around every corner is something new and interesting to do.
The third dungeon was absolutely spectacular. The dungeon item is a great addition and it is used in great ways not just in puzzles but combat as well. This game mixes all items so well which is something TP really failed to do. The boss was rather easy but that great mix of skill based combat and puzzle elements I love. I am about 15 hours in and now the story really begins and with some epic stuff happening. Compared to TP dungeon 3 of SS destroys TPs dungeon 3. Dungeon score is 2-1, SS is leading.

SPOILERS
I loved the Groose cutscene, so funny, I hope he is used much more throughout the story. The Imprisoned boss was pretty simple, it is no Shadow of the Colossus to be sure. It sounds like you will fight it a few times so I hope they really expand on  the battle. I still have mixed reaction on Skyloft, the people are interesting but I don't like how you basically have to wait for the quests to be triggered. I keep advancing the game then go back to Skyloft to see if any new quests "opened" up. Zelda games are far more natural at this as you are finding new towns with new quests to do as you advance the game. Here you just keep looking around the same place over and over hoping something new happens. Other than that, I am having a blast.

Thrill Driller is the greatest minigame ever. There is more too it than meets the eye. Go to it after you have the harp.

I actually upgraded everything I wanted. All my shields and all my items. I explored the area around faron woods to hunt for some bugs and found another bombable wall. Remember guys you can catch more things than just insects. I finally went back to the fourth dungeon, only it was no dungeon. I got some info and unlocked a new area. I was worried that the areas would have the same look, but this one is totally different. Nice surprise and so beautiful too.

Need to fetch a new item, hopefully the quest itself is fun.

I really love the options in combat. There are so many ways to get rid of enemies. Some newly discovered ones, put up your shield to hide your sword movements, use bombs on deku baba's and watch them catch it and from or own GG use the beetle to capture a hornet's nest and drop it on the enemies.

Also love the freedom of the skies. Flying high above and the jumping off and skydiving. Did you guys try doing this over the pumpking place?

Oh and I suck at playing the harp in the bar. Any tips. i finished it once but only got a passable rating. As with almost every Zelda minigame I bet there is something tied to mastering it.

Of course.

Did you freak out during the paper quest, it was an actual choice, I actually reloaded a save to see the different outcomes. I dont know the final outcome yet but I know no Zelda quest gets uncompleted so i wonder how that choice changes things.

I just started searching for gratitude crystals.  This town just gets better and better.  I barely got to play today, maybe an half hour, but for the moment,   I don't care about dungeon 2.  I'm saving that till tomorrow.  I just want to see more sidequests!  Clocktown just may be eclised in terms of sheer awesomeness.

It looks we are all completely in love with this game. Too premature for GOTY?

Well seeing how this morning when I did dungeon 3 I was on a gaming high that has not been matched by any game this year, yeah maybe not too premature. And thats the 3rd dungeon, holy crap. Again I love action/adventure and as always this Zelda formula is the ultimate form of that genre to me. Nintendo is a master of their craft. Many other games have far better stories, incredible set pieces, even more interesting deeper worlds to explore but no one comes close to the level design this game has.

Why would you reload the save?! You can see the other outcome when you try the hero mode. I was not freaked out because I played Majora and you could do the same thing. Plus I highly suspect that Monolith was involved with the sidequest structure because it kinda looks like the one in Xenoblade and you had choices there also. So no I did no freak out, but I did laugh my ass off. And you can probably guess what choice I picked!

No not premature at all! We already know that Xenoblade is GoTY. Nyaa

I'm in love. I dont want to stop playing but I need to sleep. I am about to reach dungeon 4 but I have been side tracked doing side quests and upgrading items. I found all sorts of awesome medallions that basically adjust drop rates of every possible thing in the game. Its like an RPG now, having to choose what perks you want to carry.  I have the cursed medallion right now that locks out your items but gives you much more drops of rupees and treasures, what a cool trade off. It works too, I got a bunch of great drops. Oh and did you guys see what the shiny mushrooms do?Oh and did the first silent realm and I want more! Its an interesting game one that I feel could be elaborated on to make skill like challenges. This mode would have made one hell of a bonus mode.

About my wiimotion plus problems. I had strange problems with my shiny gold remote. So I tried my normal wiimote with motionplus and it was night and day. Weapon selecting was much easier, my sword never had a height difference. When I hold it straight, Link holds his sword straight too. Not angled upwards or downwards. Flying was easier too. So it seems that my golden mote is busted Sad. I do not have the best of luck with these motionplus things. First one breaks down when I buy Red Steel 2 and now my golden mote is fried. I will try it with Wii Sports Resort to confirm if it is broken, but it seems I will have to return the game and get a new one.

Why is it always you with motionplus problems?

Well if you love it now it will only get better. I didn't love it till the end of dungeon 3.

Agree with you here, the planning and execution of the design is impeccable. I can barely imagine how they do it, I guess 5 years of development helps.

I did the second one last night, I really enjoy them. Links speed and agility work very well, I hope they keep this element in the next game.

I'm sort of stuck near the end of the 5th dungeon. I could faq it or wait for you guys.

About my golden mote. I tried it with Wii Sports Resort and it worked fine. It worked fine with Zelda too, until suddenly it did not work. But it works now, I guess I had interference or something. So who cares, I am playing with my mote and motionplus now. Like Leo I kinda enjoy swinging a larger rod around. And it never had any problems. Golden mote you are relegated to player 2 status.

Oh my GOD, OH fucking hell. The fourth dungeon was awesome, but the boss, omg the boss. Was like the best boss ever. It was not only a fun to fight, it was hard. I died twice and the third time I had only one hart left. And like before finishing dungeons gives you a upgrade that can be used to unlock the next part of the game.

Before the fourth dungeon there was a part where you went back to old grounds, but it was very short and the ending was awesome. Not even in the same ball park as Windwaker. Will probably do some side mission in Skyloft before moving on.

Also another fun detail. Have you guys wondered why the cats in Skyloft have such big ears? Throw them of the cliff and find out.

Just finished the fourth dungeon, not so great, pretty good. I love the item you get in the dungeon and the boss fight was incredible! That boss is everything I want to see out of Zelda from now on, there is no need to be stuck on a pattern, you can mix pattern with quick paced combat and that is what this does. It was a bit easy though, I have no clue what you are talking about Iga I hardly got touched but so much fun. When compared to TPs 4th dungeon it is not close, that 4th dungeon in TP is a masterpiece so TP wins. Score is 2-2.

I quite enjoyed the fetch quests they send you on before the 4th dungeon. Yeah I can see how it could get annoying going back to previous areas but at least they repopulate it with much stronger enemies and if you are looking to upgrade items its a perfect oppertunity to "farm" without going out of your way to specifically do that. It's basically built into the quest for you. I have upgraded most of my items already, I love doing so, having a super beetle is so awesome. I am starting to see that there maybe tricks to getting certain drops more often. (Minor SPOILER.... in the 4th dungeon the zombie bokobins drop evil ball item if you bomb them. I wonder if you use certain items on enemies if that makes the drops happen).

Its side quest time now, hopefully some new good ones opened up. I want to get Fun Fun Island working.
