^on that, I often play my games on mute while I listen to podcasts or the other TV in the room.

HOTD Overkill talk. Firstly what I say makes sense Yo and your comparison is quite bad really.

Okay vader, firstly you should have played it in single player firstly and then tried the Directors cut. It's not a hard game by any means but in two player you have -duh- two players with twice the guns and the game does not compensate for that by upping the difficulty. Hence you would get a better experience by playing single player.

Secondly the machine guns are a joke and you shouldn't use them. Why? Because the game is about accurately popping off shots, for someone who likes to get scores and ranks, accuracy should be everything to you. And the way you unlock items depends on these scores. You may get away with spraying the screen with an assault rifle but you wont get far unlocking items. Plus you didn't play to the end of the directors cut which is the harder mode and I doubt you would make it to the end without using the assault rifle.

Equipping the machine guns in HOTD Overkill is like activating an invincibility cheat in other games, you've just sucked all the challenge and enjoyment out of the game by indiscriminantly holding down the button and boringly spraying the screen.  

That is why you don't use them. If there is an overpowered weapon in a game which is ruining your enjoyment of said game you don't use it. It's like a reviewer saying a game is too hard and not trying the easy mode.

Counter example - you said to me to play with Sheva's AI to defence mode in RE5 so she doesn't kill the game by interferring. You and Archie also said to divide ammo and let her take ammo alot.

Playing the game a certain way makes it better. It's all about exploring options.

The difference is I gave you tips in RE5 to excell at the game, if you know when to put Sheva in attack mode it would work well, but that takes practice. You are telling me to take away from HOTD in order to make it a better experience. In RE5 you can use all the weapons and its still a decent difficulty. In UC you have to manage all the weapons to get by. In HOTD there is no weapon balance at all, no attention was paid to it. They just slapped a bunch of zombies on screen, gave you a bunch of weapons and said go. Balance and strategy be damned, just shoot shit up!

(Which I guess is the point of a game like that, which is why I still gave it a good score. What it does it does well, I just perfer the UC style.)

I'll admit it, I did a backflip when I heard the Pachterwatch intro. I honestly was expecting you guys to do it yourselves.

I can now understand what Yoda meant when he mentioned he was getting more confident as a host - it shows. You guys did great. I really wish I could've contributed to the SF talk.

And yes, there will be more Beatles talk on the next one. Though I'll keep it short!

Though most of it'll be taken up by TGS.

That's not a difference to me. They unbalanced Sheva by making her act the way she does, they unbalanced inventory management too. I have to compensate by playing it a certain way.

Yes the weapons in Overkill are unbalanced but that's why if you are in the know, you can avoid that. It's like playing Mario Kart in the heaviest clunkiest kart. If it doesn't feel right, you change karts. Yes its an imperfection, but one that's easily overcome.

And is it balanced in that they make the game easy to complete, but if you want the unlockables, you have to use accuracy and the combo system to get really good at the game. You cant get away with using machine guns when trying to unlock stuff.

I actually do that, too and thought of it at the time, but I was enjoying his reaction too much LOL

I always love hearing the feedback on the shows.  I'm not really a talker, primarily because I'm not around people I'd have anything to say to, so it's rather cathartic to manage to be apart of an ongoing conversation for the length of a podcast--an enjoyable one at that.
