That is a wonderful summary. I can see the appeal, particularly with each game being a part of a larger part of body of accomplishment (with measurable markers). The intensity must be fairly high, seeing as it is a one-on-one competion.

I've only ever played Halo Wars at Archie's recommendation. I got half-way through but had to stop as I found it way too nerve-wracking. That's amazing that you were able to just glide right into StartCraft II without much prior exposure to the genre. Gives me hope that one day I'll be able to tackle genres I've neglected thus far.

Bear in mind StarCraft is accessible as it is deep.
