"Congesting the body"

LOL

I think we're getting spam from Anonymous after the Anonymous blog.

I reviewed the captcha implementation for the registration page, I didn't have any indication of it being circumventable, so best guess is that reCaptcha's pretty broken.  I'm working on some heuristics to act as a filter.

I recall reading in recent weeks that one of the comon captcha's was hacked.  Maybe it's the one we use? A very quick search did not find anything on it, I think I saw it at slashdot.

The article you're thinking of is likely this one, where a researching says he had good success and Google denies it.

EDIT: Further down in the comments than I read on first viewing, there's some actually useful information.  Anecdotal, but there are those saying they've just seen a big jump in spam on their reCaptcha protected sites around the same time.  Looks like a new or improved botnet targeting reCaptcha, then.

^Yeah that was it.  That's the problem with using a reader -- one reads so much. Or skims so much, is probably a better way to put it.

link retained for evidence, if you want to delete it go ahead:

You may want to see if Drihoornoke is also from the same IP and ban them as well, they appear to have popped up at the same time (I have not banned this user, no reason to yet).

That spam account was created a week or so ago.  Since the change to the registration system, no new spam accounts have been created.  I just went through and took care of pre-banning the rest of the obvious bots so we don't have any more popping up.

I don't think anyone noticed, but the stars feature wouldn't have been working for the last while.  That's fixed.  The +- display on the front page is also now working.

^I noticed, but wasn't sure if it had been deliberately changed after there was some negative discussion regarding the stars post-GG incident, so didn't say anything. Now it's back jsut as I was getting used to it being gone! Sad Nyaa

I don't know if you see this or not Yoda, but when you quote someone, the quotes often have extra spaces, extra lines or indentations added to them. It's not a BIG deal, but it makes the posts look all sloppy.

Seems to be a Firefox issue, and it has to do with CKEditor's tendency to want to format things.  I've altered the filtering of text from its typical behaviour of converting tab characters to 4 spaces, instead to just remove tab characters entirely.

Using Firefox 3.16.51 today

When editing a comment to a blog entry I saw something I had not seen since I was; at gamespot.

Wherever I had a double space in the initial entry that I was editing I saw ";nbsp;nbsp;"  I had to remove them so they would not appear in the post.

I was not using my regular PC, so it may be as a result of an out of date browser etc. but still though it worth mentioning.

I seem to be having trouble staying logged on.   I have to re-enter my log on info every couple of hours.  It used to be something like every five minutes a day ago.

Cookies disabled?  Did you update your browser recently, like to IE9 or Firefox 4?

Not a problem, just pointing it out in case you had not noticed.

On the front page where the news stories are listed in the left column.  About three stories down "just above the fold" there used to be an ad which would replace whatever story would have been there.  Now the ad is gone (as it has been for months), but the story that would be there is not seen. (It appears when the next story is posted).

Again, if it stays this way that's cool.  Just letting you know in case you were not aware of it.

I have tried on multiple occasions to update my avatar. It uploads okay but it remains the same, the cat with the headphones.
