Here's another interesting little factoid for you about the game. On Amazon Epic Yarn being ignored. Prior to the game's release on Sunday Kirby had a total of 9 days on the Top 100 videogame chart. The typical trend for most high profile Nintendo games that aren't Mario will usually show up for about three weeks or so before the game goes on sale. Most of Kirby's time was spent in the bottom half of that too. Even on his launch day the game still hadn't even broken into the top 20.
That's when something kind of cool happened. Epic Yarn started to climb in rank. Most Wii games usually start to fall down the Top 100 list a day or two after they launch. Yesterday, probably due to the overwhelmingly good reviews the game has been receiving Epic Yarn actually broke into the Top 20 and has stayed there. It hasn't broken into the Top 10 yet, but it's getting very close. Anyway that's just nice to see when good reviews actually translate into sales.
Here I am, stressed out a little over work, can't sleep becaue of sinus issues and I'm playing Kirby to relax.

Anyway, the wife has the Wii and has taken it to work, so no Kirby for a few days. I guess I'll have to go back to Just Cause 2 on the 360.

When we are young, we play mindlessly but set our minds to wondering what we'll be when we grow up.
When we grow up, we force ourselves to play, desperately trying to remember what it's like to be young again.
There's a bit of wonder in children of what it's like to be grown up.
In grown-ups, there's a bit of sadness when we watch kids who seem to grow up too fast.
My nephew went from playing Pokemon Heart Gold to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in the span of a few short months.
My niece's favorite past-time seems to have become teasing my nephew endlessly.
My heart sank at the prospect that my nephew just wouldn't find a game like Kirby "cool" anymore.
Then I got the call: "Can you take me to GameStop to get Epic Yarn?"
"Can I?" I said. "Yeah" he said. "Now?!" I said. "Yeah" he said.
...and off we went!
We were riding the train home when he opened the case. "Prince Fluff?" he said with a smirk.
"You're playing a game with a Pink Puff made of Yarn and you think the name Prince Fluff is funny?" I said.
"Good point" he said.
...but I was still worried.
We went in the front door and I found myself thinking: "Will the storybook setting put him off?" "Will it be too easy for him now?" "Will it bore him without the guns and ammunition?"
Niece and Nephew hurried into the den to turn on the Wii. He grabbed one wii-mote, thinking he wanted to play his new game by himself.
She started to whine, saying she wanted to play with Kirby too.
The teasing began after that, with her holding the wii-mote up to her nose like an elephant trunk and pointing it in his face.
"Here we go" I sigh.
Kirby drops down to the title screen. The game starts. The story begins to be narrated in that story-book kind of tone.
"It's make or break time" I say to myself.
Their eyes widen in wonder as Kirby is transformed into yarn, still laughing at the "Magic Sock."
The action begins and my nephew instructs his little sister how to hold the remote properly and how to grapple and swing from a button.
They quiet at first, concentrating on what they are doing...
...but then start to giggle and play the game together...
...together...
...they are playing...
I see the colors reflected in their eyes and the smiles on their faces and am reminded of their first Christmas Trees, not so long ago.
I sit and watch their faces as they play for a while, forgetting time and troubles, and see them for the children they are.

Kirby's a massive hit!
I breathe a sigh of relief and Thank God... and Nintendo... for the little moments like this one.
That is great. I can't wait to play Super Mario Bros. with my son for the first time.
There has not been a time in the last week when I have popped this game in and it has NOT brought a smile to my face REGARDLESS of the circumstances that were going on in my life...
...and last week was a pretty freakin' AWFUL week!
The graphics are magical. The gameplay is kept fresh in every. single. level.
This is one of the FINEST examples of a "Nintendo" game this generation. It harkens sooo much back to the 16-bit glory days... I can't even begin to imagine someone calling themselves a Nintendo fan and NOT getting this game!

I just played this "Racing" section... Such simplicity, but sooo enjoyable...
...then I played this UFO level...

Just TRY getting through this level with all your Gems intact!

The level of ENJOYMENT this game gives you is untouchable. Constant challenge isn't necessary when a game is this much of a pleasure just to PLAY!

Wanna see something REALLY, REALLY interesting? Do a Google Search for Epic Yarn images, then do a search for any other average game.
There's million upon millions of Kirby images... not so much for other games!
This is one of THE MOST universally praised games for its graphical style! Look at the adoration JUST in the number of images posted ALONE! Just wait until all those people actually PLAY it too!
