I think this site has more Zelda fans than Skies fans, so that is what I am basing it on. If others had voted I think Zelda would win. All it takes is for one other voter to tell me otherwise and it will be done.

I am not trolling here. But can someone explain to me the appeal of Smash Bros? I own them all, I get suckred into buying each of them for the music and collectible little statuettes, but as a game? You may as well watch a DVD and press buttons on a controller as you watch (IMO).

"well, duh, if you were going to watch a DVD and press buttons on your controller, you might as well play Heavy Rain instead, HURRRR DURRRRR".

Fan service. That's really about it. For me it is.
And it's pretty fun as a party game, but I don't think I can ever call it a fighting game like Street Fighter or Tekken.

The fan service is why I keep buying them. It's weird.
It's a beat em up, how is that anything like watching a movie? You may not like its mechanics but obviously others do. I don't. But I don't like the mechanics of many beat 'em ups including most of the main Street Fighter games.

^ I love beat-em-ups -- side scrolling ones. By DVD I meant, there appears to be little conncetion betwen what you see on screen and what you do with the controller.
I guess you're just not used to its style, how is down, down forward, forward + punch or similar any less abstract? It's not, people are just used to it because tons of games after SF2 have used that style.

The perspecitve does not jar me, I'm good at moving around etc... I just don't like the lack of depth in the moves (there are no combos from what I can tell). I've only ever played it single player, i assume it's more fun multiplayer?

Single-player's a bit on the easy-side (eventually started fighting 1-on-3 in Melee). Yes, there are combos, but no, it's not land one hit then have a guaranteed 50 more hits. It's about movement, much moreso than other fighters, per the platforming elements infused. Button mashing will get you even less in Smash Bros than it will in other fighters, because individual attacks on their own are relatively worthless, and as mentioned, movement is so important that smashing buttons is trivial to dismiss.
