Yikes! I remember that part. That's just the beginning too. It only gets tougher.
But it's a blast.
You have to play smarter and not just shoot everything in sight. I learned that the hard way. It got pretty tough to the point where I took a breather for a few weeks, played other games, and than came back to it. Then I beat it. I'm speaking about the later parts as well.
Perseverance and patience is the key, unlike Call of Duty where you just duck, shoot, kill, move on, rinse and repeat. Gears is all about flanking and finding efficient ways to gradually wear the bad guys down. Which is why I like the shooting in Gears more than Halo or Call of Duty. Which is why Gears shines in co-op.
Gears of War 2 was the most fun I had with co-op, blows away RE5. RE5 felt tacked on a little bit, but Gears 2 was built around co-op so it's an absolute blast.

I actually got by the Factory part and am in the Mines. I'm actually getting quite a bit better!
I wouldn't be complaining half as much, I expect, IF I wasn't playing on Hardcore. I REFUSE to play 'Casual' though! It's just TOO demeaning!
How does multiplayer work? Can you revive one another if you get taken out? I'd hate to be playing multiplayer and have to start over, start over, start over if I keep on dying...
I'm free in the morning and early afternoon on Friday. .......Day off. 
Making progress in Gears in the scant time I've had to play in the last few days. You can't look up pics of Gears without being greeted by this Handsome Fellow...
...I've been anxiously awaiting/secretly dreading/nervously anticipating fighting it...
...and I killed it on my first try...
...on Hardcore!

Basically, yeah you can revive each other, and it's just the same level but with two dudes shooting rather than just by yourself. I fortget if the difficulty is adjusted in anyway to make it harder. And you are right to play it on hardcore, that was the perfect level of difficulty for that game (even though I guess you are new to the modern genre).

Dunno, bad compression, jpg artifacts, maybe they're from an old build of the game? Why are you so obsessed with this?

Glad to hear you are digging your purchases, Leo. If I wouldve known I would have kept mine.....actually no, I still would have sold it. If you liked ME then you are going to go batshit over ME2, a lot of probs people had from ME(raises hand) were fixed or removed entirely. ME2 is actually my favorite console RPG so far this gen, and if it wasn't for the fact that it's coming to PS3 in January I'd still have my 360.
