The one thing I HATE about these books is the "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" effect...
**Sadly the only person who would probably get that reference wouldn't normally reply to me...**
...meaning, Jayce's dad was always juuuust out of reach. That frickin' show would drive you crazy, making you think "This is the time he'll find his dad" only to have him snatched away in the last few seconds of that particular episode...
I know it's unrealistic to expect happy resolutions to all of the individual stories going on --BUT-- It makes me sad to see all the Stark kids scattered, and the wolves, and their mom... JUST when you think something good is going to happen to them, things just get worse. DRIVES ME FRICKIN' NUTS!
**Don't read this spoiler if you haven't finished Storm of Swords yet!**
Please don't tell me I haven't seen anything yet. I went to simply look up the correct spelling of Arya's wolf one day and the very next sentence SPOILED the fate of Robb and Grey Wind for me...
Edit: Posted in the last post for spoiler security reasons.
Leo this seems like the last series where anything good happens.
Speaking of which I was just at the part where Bran was in the tower while Jon was below in the village, FUUUCKK. Soose to reuniting.
That said HOOOLY SHIIT this book is insane!!! It does not let up at all, every chapter something awesome happens. I love Dany so much. I dont know the future but I I fear the point where Dany becomes the potenial enemy of the westeros characters I love. For now she is in her own adventure so I can enjoy her struggles but she is the enemy basically... well makes the drama all the better.
Minor spoilers ahead for ASOS and thoughts on the series.....
this book is starting to bring up the title of the series a lot. Before this A song of ice and fire really didnt make much sense but now its becoming more clear. Clearly this R'hllor has powers so there is something to this "god". So is this whole series really a battle between a light god and an evil dark one. So far they still keep it as a tale, one religion amoung many but it is the title of the series so... interesting. i am sure Steel knows by now, don't say anything.
travo said:Minor spoilers, I guess. In your opinion, who really does have the true right to the Westeros Kingdom? Daeny? Grendy? A Lannister?
The true right, has to be a Baratheon, whether it be Stannis or Grendy. Of course I rather have the Starks rule all but that aint happening probably. They are destined to be miserable.

I finished A dance with dragons a few days ago. Much less WTF moments but still an exciting read.
Rank the books.
WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING FUCK HELL SHIT ASS FUCK MOTHER FUCKING COCK!!!!
I want the wights to rain down on westeros and slowly murder everyone! While they are still painfully alive and crows are picking out their eyes I want Dany and her Dragons to clense the land with dragon fire, melting all of them alive. No one deserves to live in this piece of shit land, except Tyrion.
What book are you in?
I'll rank them later. Still have a few things to mull over.
WEDDINGS... holy shit!
Spoiler time.......................................
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLLOLL WOOOOOOO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH FUCK YOU JOFFREY LOLOLOLOL And littlefinger is a bad ass in his own way. I have no clue what to think of him.
I finally finished Battle Royale: The Novel tonight. The last half of the book was far better than the rather tedious first half.
I will talk about it more later.
Just finished ASOS myself... don't even know what to say... The fate of the Starks makes me sad and angry all at the same time. The "Jayce and the Wheeled Warrior" effect is still going FULL FORCE with Arya just missing Robb and Catelyn --and-- Bran just missing Jon. Are we EVER going to see Nymeria again?! I like the redemptive nature of the story line, but hate how tough a time the Starks are given! I grew to like Jaime. Learned to respect the Hound. I am rooting for Tyrion even after he shot you know who in the groin... ESPECIALLY after he did that really... I am loving Dany's rise to power. The Epilogue blew my mind. I didn't think I was going to like Davos, but even his chapters were good too... so much to discuss, so much to love, so much to ponder... I wish the whole Song of Ice and Fire would ramp up a bit... Maybe it will in Crows, maybe it won't... Oh well, either way, GREAT series!
I watched an episode of the HBO series over the weekend, and liked how it was portrayed for the most part. Cersei was sexy and evil. Sansa was pious and beautiful. Stannis, I didn't like so much... Tyrion, of course, kicked ass! This was the Battle at King's Landing, so I didn't get to see Dany, Arya, Robb, Jaime or Catelyn, etc, etc...
I almost DON'T want to watch the series, simply because I know THERE'S NO WAY IT WILL EVER BE FINISHED! Martin writes a book every 5 or 6 years... there's no way possible HBO is going to be able to keep the actors and actresses and stretch out production of the first 5 books for THAT long... My guess is after a Dance of Dragons (if it makes it that far), it is going to go animated!
It backfired big time.
