Get it now?
You put Crystal Bearers and FFXIII in the same sentence, that was confusing.
I get what you are saying.
I see two posts, identical on the same page.
Now I'm confused!
25 hours in and I can choose my team! Yay! But now I feel scared, who do I chose? I'm lost.
Anyway I came here to complain about annoying features in JRPGs, especially FF. In a game where they seemed to remove so many JRPG elements, streamlined everything for some reason they kept the item upgrade system as mysterious and confusing as possible. The game tells you nothing, it says you can upgrade items and using certain components will give you different results, experiment. That is it.
On GS I learned that combining certain types of items gives you crazy insane bonuses like near instant stagger. I found that if you dismantle (destroy an item for parts) certain high weapons or accessories you gain a special item, how the hell am I supposed to know this?! Oh yeah let me destroy this awesome weapon I spent forever to create just to see if it gives me something. WTF. How am I supposed to know any of this?
I always find myself going to faqs with these games cause there are always hidden stuff that the player will never find on his own. How about a side quest that leads you to a list that explains some possible combinations. Something in game that can guide us.

Errr. Vader? You do realize the Upgrade and Save options are right in the same menu, right?
Save. Experiment. Re-Load, if you must.
I powered up a Scarf I had on Lightning to the point where it gave me an Full ATB Bar at the start of each battle. I thought "Great!" powered it up again, and it turned into boots that enabled Sentinels to Evade better. That kinda sucked, so I just re-loaded and kept the Scarf.
I am stuck at a part not too far after where you are.
I'm not gonna spoil anything but a winged somanabitch keeps killing me.

Hmm I really never thought of that, I sort of just live with consequences. Nice trick. But following a guide is easier.

Gran Pulse here I come!
**Kinda spoiler-ish: This is one of the most finely crafted Final Fantasies ever. Why? The way the game is designed matches the story-line to a tee. If you feel like you are a slave to fate, you will see life as one straight line to a pre-determined goal. Once you realize your life is your own and you are free to decide your own path, the whole world opens up to you!**
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Gran Pulse!
It is totally the wide-open, breath of fresh air you were waiting to play for the entire game!
It is like a reward almost for sticking with the game that long.
I love how you have Marks (Hunting Missions) and how you can still hunt after the game ends (so I hear)!
The game has gone from a really different and engaging Final Fantasy to being a Final Fantasy Monster Hunter! AWESOME!
**The only "trouble" is, now that I am in the open field, I know I will get distracted by all the creatures, marks and treasures and will get sidetracked from the main quest!**

Yeah. That's the guy that kept on killing me. You NEED to have a Sentinel in your party!
I think my party was Snow, Sazh and Vanille.
You're almost to Gran Pulse ! ! !

You've compared FFXIII to Bayonetta before.
When I was fighting Barthandelus I was thinking the same thing! He looked just like a Bayonetta enemy!

OMG so true!
Made it to Gran Pulse yesterday but it was 4am so I had to stop. I did fight the first enemy I found on the field, a behemoth, he wooped my ass. I lasted a good 6 minutes though, but it was 6 minutes of me being beat up. The intro into this chapter was INCREDIBLE.
^ Just when you thought you knew everything you needed to know about FFXIII, they throw Marks into the fray!
...and a HUGE, sprawling overworld with TITANIC creatures!
It tickles my Pseudo-MMORPG fancy quite nicely!
The only thing I DON'T like is having to walk alllll the way from one side of the field to another! Thank God someone thought to make the C'ieth teleporters!

A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I'm way down here
It's crystal clear
That now I'm in a whole new world with you
Now I'm in a whole new world with you
Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless grassy plain
A whole new world
Don't you dare close your eyes
A hundred thousand things to see
Hold your breath - it gets better
I'm like a shooting star
I've come so far
I can't go back to where I used to be
A whole new world
Every turn a surprise
With new horizons to pursue
Every moment red-letter
I'll chase them anywhere
There's time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you

Be prepared!
[Spoken]
[Banzai:] Yeah, Be prepared.
Yeah-heh... we'll be prepared, heh.
...For what?
[Scar:] For the arrival to pulse.
[Banzai:] Why? Is it boring?
[Scar:] No, fool-- it's an open world. With missions
[Shenzi:] Great news! Who doesn't love easy missions?
[Shenzi (and then Banzai):]
New missions! New missions! la--la-la--la-laa-laa!
[Scar:] Idiots! The missions will be hard!
[Banzai:] Hey, but you said, uh...
[Scar:] I will show you the way! ...Stick with me, and
you'll level up to the max!
[Shenzi and Banzai:] Yaay! All right! Long live our faqs!
[All Hyenas:] Long live the faqs! Long live the faqs!
[Full song again]
[Hyenas:]
It's great that we'll soon be guided.
By a faqs who'll be all-time adored.
[Scar:] Of course, quid pro quo, you're expected
To take certain precautions on board
The future is littered with prizes
And though it's all very tempting
The point that I must emphasize is
You won't get a sniff without grinding!
So prepare for the change of the century
(Oooh!)
Be prepared for no linear paths
(Oooh... La! La! La!)
King Behemoths roaming
(We'll have CP)
Adamantoises walking
(Lots of CP)
Annoying groups of goblins
(We repeat)
Is simply why Pulse will
(Endless CP)
amaze you, surpise you
(Aaaaaaah...)
excite you, defeat you
(...aaaaaaah...)
And seen for the wonder it is
(...aaaaaaah!)
Yes, Pulse will amaze and beat your ass down
(Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo)
Be prepared!
[All:]
Yes, Pulse will amaze and beat your ass down

Disney tunes?
If you're trying to appeal to the homosexual inside of me...
...it worked...
Ernesto has pulled out and is headed South as we speak!

I grew up with this stuff, I know these songs by heart. Now that I started I want to see how many Disney songs I can convert.
