Is anyone else here playing this?  I'm really overwhelmed by how much I love this game.  It is something special.  I'm hoping that this place can be a safe haven from spoilers.  GS is dangerous right now.  I'm avoiding my inbox until I beat the game, and mostly just reading the ROF and the General Moderators Forum.  Nowhere else is safe.Nyaa

The first hour and a half of the game is like nothing else I've ever played.  They really make you care for those kids.  My favorite chapters so far have involved the FBI duder and the private eye.  I've only played one of the chapters with what's-her-face.

Jayden's special FBI glasses are nuts.  The part where he is sitting at his desk and choosing virtual backgrounds to replace his office is some of the coolest graphical wizardry I've ever seen.

I can't stop thinking about this game.  I made one decision last night that I immediately regretted, and I might start the game over, or at least go back a few chapters.

I would buy this, well not day one because of Uncharted 2 and LBP but day 4 for sure - if I had a PS3.

It's exactly the sort of game I would want to play. Can you give some more detailed impressions, literally, when you start the game after the menu what happens? Are you in the third person or first, whats the first area? Who are you taking to, what's the story and how do the controls work?

Interested in this too. Like the detective aspects but not much into serial killer villains though. I like the character switching. How are the puzzles? Is it very actiony?

You swore an oath to God that you would buy this game and Endless Ocean Blue World.

I remember you using those words exactly.

I haven't forgotten, the minute I see them on any store, they're mine. If I'm not carrying enough cash, I'll have to offer my manly body and breathtaking manhood and balls in exchange.

When they started the kids stealth mission on that camp?  I enjoyed the firstone, but it could have done without those parts.

Wow.  It must good if you are considering that.  Did you listen to Brandon Sinclair's trashing of the game in hotspot podcast? (It's spoiler free and at the start of the cast if you want to be astonished by how idiotic someone can be).

The MAN happens to be my brother, and he is wise to my shenanigans.  I almost got fired last week.  As it stands, I just need to find a new job.Nyaa

Yikes. So what do you do all day now, stare at stone tablets. Nyaa

If you do search for a new job I hope the best for you.

Yeah, best of luck there, rags. Although I can't understand how could someone fire his own brother.  I mean, you're a pretty easygoing dude, it's not like you're showing up for work drunk and bitchslapping your costumers.

I can't really blame him.  I do work when I'm here at the shop, but there is so little work to be done.  If there is nothing to do, I'm here on the internet.  As a struggling business, it is hard to justify paying someone to hang out on the internet.  In the average 50 hour week, I probably do about 5 hours of real work.  The rest of the time I'm just holding down the fort and waiting for customers... anyway, he's gone, so those Heavy Rain impressions are coming right up.Nyaa

So... I am really not comfortable with telling too much about the game past the first hour and a half.

The game starts off with the character Ethan waking up and going about his morning routine.  You brush your teeth, take a shower and get dressed to head downstairs.  It serves as a good introduction to the controls, and as boring as it sounds, the atmosphere is amazing.

You go downstairs and have the freedom to make yourself coffee, turn on some music, maybe do a little work, or go outside and mess around in the garden.  I turned on the TV and there was a really surreal looking cartoon on that I sat and watched until my wife and kids came home.  It is your son's birthday, and your wife is carrying in a bunch of groceries.  You can offer to help, or presumably you can just head straight out to play with your kids in the back yard.

After helping her, I went outside where the game makes you decide which of your kids you want to play with first.  It sounds weird, but the choice was hard, and it made me feel bad.  After playing with both of them, you can get into a plastic swordfight with your older son, while the younger son cheers him on.  I intentionally screwed up so that the kid would win.  He seemed really happy.

The next scene is spoilerish, and I won't go into it...

The scene after that is two years later, and you've divorced your wife.  You've got one of your sons for the week.  You were late picking him up from school, and it is a rainy and shitty sort of day.  You take him home, and he doesn't talk much.  He really seems to hate you.  I tried to talk to him about his day, but he kept trying to ignore me and watch the TV.  I ended up wandering out into the back yard and practiced my basketball shot.  It was easier than dealing with the kid, and didn't make me, as a player, sad.  I went back in and made him dinner.  I made a half-assed attempt at getting him to do his homework, and I gave in.  I wanted him to like me, and forcing him to do homework just didn't seem worth a fight.  We sat on the couch and watched more weird cartoons until I put him to bed.

That is as far as I'll post.  The game really puts me in that world.  The emotions it hits me with are very real.  I love it.  Each scene is really amazing.  It gets much darker after that stuff I wrote, and goddamn, there are some creepy scenes.

The gameplay isn't puzzly for the most part, you are either investigating crime scenes, interviewing people and trying to get them to talk, or you are faced with tense situations where you need to fight someone or talk them down.  It is pretty incredible.

This seems like the kind of game that is almost impossible to describe without going into specific story points and spoilers.
