Last weekend I was at yet another Orlando horror convention, May-Hem. And it kicked ass. Here are the pictures to prove it. And just in case you're reading the preview there are tons of hot chicks in this.

But first a picture of me and my 5 foot tentacle. What? Don't you have one?

And here is my Clicker costume. Only one person in the entire event apparently played the Last of Us. You'd think with all the douchebag Walking Dead fans, at least one would have owned a PS3. Oh well, so be it. I had fun, and it creeped people out. Anyway enough of me. Here's the cool stuff.

The chainsaw bunnies, Dogwitch and Bluebell returned.

And the happy clowns Thug and Giggles returned too.

And this year there was a Godzilla made entirely of balloons. Very sad when they popped them at the end of the show.

And don't stare at this picture too long. You'll have questions...

These are the Frankenberries, winners (deservedly so) of the costume contest.

That's Lana. Her costume is actually made out of metal and she actually shed blood making it, and if I heard correctly accidentally sliced a few people who got too close to her.

Lo-Pan from Big Trouble in Little China. John Carpenter was there signing autographs.

If you've ever seen hentai you probably know how this ends.

This was sort of a gender bend Carrie. Really impressive bucket of blood there.

I don't know exactly what this was.... I just know it was scary...

There are a lot more kids at this thing than you'd expect.

El Santo and Leatherface. They're friends.

A rather messed up Alice In Wonderland group

And a steampunk Jessica Rabbit. I have no idea why she wore this to a horror convention, but some people just like any excuse to dress up.

And i'll just end the gallery with these two, because they're kind of cute.

Those are amazing!  I think I could dig live action hentai.

No. Stay away from live action hentai Travo. Don't be that guy. You don't want to be me... I mean him.

What's impressive about the Frankberry costumes? The props are decent but nothing special...other than that they just painted themselves pink.

They also smell like strawberries.

There's a couple reasons:

  1. It's a fairly original idea. You'll see dozens of well done zombies at every horror con. Something like this? Not likely to see this one.
  2. The props - his horns, her hair, etc. while minimal are very well made. Not really any noticeable problems.
  3. The body paint was done flawlessly. Believe it or not, that much painting isn't easy to keep looking good. It smears and rubs off very easily if not done well. Plus there's more than just pink there. There's a lot of shading on them done to enhance certain facial and body features. Seeing it done that well on two people is twice as impressive.
  4. Overall it has a clean look. It's by no means the most detailed costume, but many times those detailed ones can look messy or have noticable problems when you look at them from certain angles.
  5. There's something to be said for a crowd pleasing costume like this as well. It's nice when you have a well done character, but if over half the people who see it don't get it, it hurts the effect a little. EVERYONE who saw this costume immediately understood who they were and what they were doing.

So what you're saying is it's for the casuals. Nyaa

P.S. What the fuck is a Frankenberry.
