I'm honestly not a huge G.I. Joe fan. I played with the toys as a kid, but as an adult it's not one of the childhood obsessions that I carried along with me. However my wife has done a Baroness costume for several years and when we found out this would be in town (this con goes from city to city each year) we thought it would be a good chance for us to final do a couple's costume. Anyway that's why I did the Cobra Commander costume. Turns out it was a really good time, and these costumers are a hell of a lot friendlier than others you'd find in other fandoms. Didn't think I'd enjoy myself too much but turns out this was the best time I've had a convention in years. Anyway here's a few pictures for your amusement:
There were several Baronesses since there's only like 5 women in the entire GI Joe universe. This one wins has the best looking one though. She just looked the part. Plus she's Columbian so she gets points for that.
And speaking of women of the GI Joe universe, here's a few of them.
And I'm sure most of you remember Scarlett from the last costume thread. This was just a cool shot of her.
Here's a group shot of some of the Joe's (aka the good guys that no one really likes to dress up as since Cobra is a lot cooler).
These were only about half the people that dressed up, though a good chunk of them just didn't want to do the photoshoot outside in the sun (and I can't blame them).
And finally here's me with the Crimson Twins (also now doubling as my Facebook profile picture because it's truly badass).
These pics are great.
The Lowlight costume is good. I don't get Scarlett, she doesn't wear a yellow suit.
Why do I never see Flint? He's my favourite character.
You should try watching the series again, it's a hell of a lot of fun and made by the same guys who did Transformers and Defenders of the Earth.
Did you try for the Cobra commander helmet too?
Does anyone try and dress up as the Cobrala guys from the movie?
There was a Flint. Actually there were two of them. Both of them had good costumes, and you can see one of them in the middle of that Joe group pic. Sadly that guy must have had some kind of facial reconstruction surgery. He looked kind of messed up.
The Scarlett costume she does is a variant of a comic book version I think. Plus the girl that does it, is very into the whole cosplay scene so she'll usually work with bright colors in a costume to make them look better in pics.
As far as the Commander helmet goes, I won't do that. That's actually what most Cobra Commander costumers use and there are plenty out there. I just don't like heavy masks. I've learned my lesson in the past. I can barely stand the hood as it is. Besides I learned a few tricks over the course of last week to keep it in place so it looks a lot better in pics now than it did from the MegaCon weekend pictures.
And nobody does Cobra LA. I assume it's because A. they're hard costumes to pull off and B. no one really remembers them.
BARONESS!!!! *drools*
What is that child in the background of the first big group pic doing?!
Of all the things going on in those pictures and your eye gets drawn to the kid? You have issues.
For the record that's my son. He was digging into a bag we brought with us probably either for a snack or his DS.
