Sorry for the wait but I have not been in the reviewing mood lately but I need to catch up so lets start with this piece of shit. ORC is a crappy TPS RE game focused on online play. It has a campaign mode that is horrible with something that is supposed to resemble a story but has more in common with an 8 year old creating some story in his room using action figures. What is really appalling about it is that it is clearly not finished, the final pieces of the story jump around inexplicably with no explanation. It has zero respect for the Resident Evil storyline, any fan looking for cool fan service forget it, this is an insult to everything we love about the story. The campaign mode is about 7 chapters long, each about 45 min to an hour long. You choose one member of some Umbrella mercs squad, each member has their special skills. These are the same classes you should be used to in all team based online shooters. You know medic, tank, cloak dude, assault guy, there is one guy that has the ability to shoot virus capsule that allows you to turn an enemy into a friend. The class based structure works well, each characters skills are different enough and have plenty to unlock. The shooting mechanics work well enough, getting in and out of cover works, it should play very well the core is all there. But shot detection is crap and you bullets seem to have zero impact, resulting in enemies that are basically bullet sponges and you feeling like you are missing them but you are not. You can shoot human characters in the head with a sniper rifle 3 times before they die, its so idiotic. When running from a hoard of zombies the game is actually pretty damn fun. Zombies are about the only enemy that do go down with a headshot. There are moments where they break down a barricade and swarm all over your team, it feels like a real zombie movie. The BOWs are pretty fun too but take WAY too much to take down, so its like fighting tanks, still pretty fun. The problem comes when you battle other gun wielding soldiers which is about 75% of the time. These guys stay in cover and have magical aim that can sometimes hit you from behind cover. They dont go down with headshots, they love to show up in the worst times when you are being swarmed leading to some of the most annoying sections ever. Boss battles are equally terrible being mostly cheap bosses that are very repetitive. The focus of the game is online but that doesn't work so well either. When I played it the game was plagued with frequent drops and lag. Most of the matches end up with you just shooting forever into an enemy, or worst getting into terrible melee battles with them. The whole BOW mechanic is interesting but doesn't do enough to make the matches seem different than a usual TPS. I think at very high levels with people that master this game these modes can be fun. There are plenty of options and matches for those that want to really get into it. Honestly this mode isnt so bad, its where it earns its 3 points, but my thought is if there are so many other better TPSs out there why waste your time with a bad one. Graphically the game is a mess, seriously I do not want a RE2 remake that looks like this. Some areas look worse than their PS1 hand drawn backgrounds. The sound effects are just as bad, they cant even get a Hunter scream correctly. It is not polished at all with weird bugs all over, nothing game breaking but just shows how little care went into the game. Also half the game is simply locked for DLC, so Capcom wants you to pay extra to play the rest of this shitty game. This game is insulting, that is the best way to put it. |

But I love your new review style: Short and to the point, like the good EGM reviews of old. It makes me want to start doing reviews again!
What more needs to be said?
You have always been too generous, man.
