They finally dropped Switch 1 Hogwarts legacy price, so I bought it to eventually upgrade for 10 bucks.

And I was actually amazingly impressed by how it looked on handheld.

I haven't upgraded it yet, this is the Switch 1 version played on switch 2 screen. And usually that means bad image quality as the portable sw1 games run at sub 720p.

But it looked decent, had good image quality. Im perplexed as I've seen lots of sw1 footage of it and it always looked like a blurfest.

Metroid Prime 4 is rated T by the ESRB. It's happening!

Hogwarts legacy sw1 looks blurrier and more jaggy on the tv.

Yet has a smooth frame rate and looks acceptable to play, better than sw1 Witcher 3.

Now downloading the sw2 upgrade. You literally just go back to the eshop and sw2 version is suddenly £8.50 or $10.

You don't update a patch, you literally just download the sw2 version.

Also there's a Daamon X Machina titanic scion demo out.

Like the Wild Hearts demo, visually not anywhere near what Cyberpunk shows the system can do.

Blurry Switch 1 level textures. Most devs don't seem to be using DLSS.

Side note I watched an Xbox Series X Phantom Liberty video earlier, although it was higher resolution, without DLSs the backgrounds had notable shimmering and dithering that isnt apparent in the lower res sw2 version.

Anyhow in Damon X the mech designs, character designs, music, story and game world are all very Xenoblade and it looks like a game I might enjoy.

However the opening of the game suffers from menus popping up continually. A piss poor method of introducing people to game mechanics.

Bewildering split menu screens.

The game doesn't feel or control like a mech, it wants to have more DMC like combat but the controls don't feel responsive enough for that.

It's a rough opening, but once you land planet side it feels better.

If there was a better introduction to the controls and systems this would leave a far better impression.

I had to stop playing as Hogwarts 2 wouldn't download while I wslas playing it.

Side note: Hogwarts Legacy sw2 for $20? Sweet deal.

Yup. That's how these $10 or free next gen upgrades work on PS5 too.

I've been going through the training modes on PGA 2K25 on Pro difficulty trying out both the swing stick and 3-click styles. 3-click is more my speed, but I can't hit a straight ball to save my life with either swing option. A couple of times, I screwed up the timing and hit a ball a few feet instead of a few hundred yards, which is pretty much how I play IRL.  LOL

That was pretty wild to me. It was cool to have both versions to make a quick comparison. SW2 definitely had better shading. The ocean wasn't like S1 calm but had waves crashing.

I probably would just lend out the Switch 1 gamecard to my nephew if his dad ever got him one.

Not sure but there was a pretty good amount of stuff that struck my fancy.

  • Kirby Air Riders
  • Black Ops 7
  • Ninja Gaiden 4
  • Resident Evil Requiem
  • Onimusha
  • Monster Hunter Wilds X Final Fantasy XIV collaboration

Those were some of the standouts for me. Others I’m probably forgetting.

So have any of you pondered how AI could improve gameplay in conjunction with a mic?

I've often talked to characters in RPGs and been mildly annoyed at the canned and limited set of questions you can ask them.

What if each character used AI and you could just talk to them via an app?

It would flesh out the world and make things feel more real.

I think however voice recognition needs to improve as it currently misheard words, and you have to repeat yourself a lot.

I would find that terrible myself. Would find it kind of annoying talking to characters in a video game and would feel awkward to me. Would be especially annoying in an RPG with all those characters to talk to.

Would also be really weird to play it out in public as well. Yeah, no thanks.

I agree with Archie. I have no desire to do that. Would be creepy too like that Milo Kinect demo video.

I’d say that I’m somewhere in the middle. It’s not really about that though. Actual talking as a method of gameplay isn’t really something that I want to do. Would interrupt with me eating Cheetos and drinking Mountain Dew. LOL

I'd like to ask dumb ass questions just to see what the replies are.

The stink eye would make me laugh.

Imagine if the AI led to totally unique outcomes though, that other players wouldn't get?

I wouldn’t want to be that guy on the bus/train trying to chat up that NPC in the latest BioWare game to get them in a romance quest line. LOL

All I want from AI in video games are more believable computer opponents. Nothing more immersion breaking than sneaking up on two dudes standing next to each other, knocking out one them, and the other one just stands there. We've been seeing this for 30 years now.

Gran Turismo 7 has been slowly incorporating Sophy AI model opponents into some of the race tracks and it's a big step up from GT7's standard computer opponents. Sadly, these are only for one off races, and not career.

You could ask Garth who he fancies in the village and then work to set him up with the girl of his dreams.

Then it would backfire at the wedding when the ladies ex shows up and kills Garth.

It would be funny to ask every character in the game "now take off your clothes".

The grannies might be into it or start screaming at you.

People in the village might start whispering about you. Calling you pervert. Denying you a seat at the village tavern.

Then you have to take out the tavern owner and take up ownership of the tavern.

Classic Elder Scrolls.
