Sony CFO: We Don't Have Enough Original IP Look at your back catalog you idiot - aspro

So get with the times and just buy some big publishers.  Sheesh, you'd think that a company with such a marketing budget that dwarfs that of Xbox would have thought of that before.  I mean, what could go wrong?  Other than overstretching resulting in the need to take your biggest games multiplat to ensure you can earn some of al that spent money back.

They certainly do not have enough original content.  I struggle to find a reason to want a PS5 and think its best to skip PlayStation this gen. Maybe Naughty Dog can wow me with something, who knows.

If anything this industry needs more AI. Creating tentpole game releases that can live up to expectations requires so much manpower devs can only get one, max 2 games released created by a team of hundreds.
Gamers will not settle for less graphical fidelity, so it'll be up to middleware providers to create AI tools that do much of the heavy lifting.

That's what I'll likely be doing when the PS5 Pro is announced. I don't need it but those graphics are sure pretty. Nyaa

So Star Wars is fine, there are things the games does really well. That said I have hit the feel of repetitiveness and the shallow gameplay is standing out. For an open world game it's so limited in options. You only drive your bike, can't pick up any other vehicles. You only get your blaster to keep, you can pick up enemy weapons but drop them the moment you climb anything. The stealth is so basic compared to say Watch Dogs. It has all these ubi elements but it's the most basic version of all of them. There is so much room to do more.

but presentation is great, I feel like I'm in a big Star Wars story and it plays well for the most part. This feels so safe and bland though.

I agree with what you wrote but I think I'm having much more fun with the game. I get so involved in the underworld drama of it all, plus Sabaac is one hell of a card game.

If I could find a cheap controller/holster for my Z fold I'd be playing great free indie games on Netflix. They have a lot of great games.

Don't really want to drain my phone battery though.

Playing the Sega Genesis Collection, thank fxxx for the rewind and quick save feature.

I'd forgotten how tough some old games were, in really cheap ways.

Enemies appearing off screen, shooting you from offscreen.

Bosses that defy the laws of physics, phasing through walls. Bosses that lunge towards you, crossing the whole screen in half a second.

What I'm noticing is that modern pixel art games are better, particularly because they control better and don't randomly screw you over.

BTW, Treasure were so far ahead of other Genesis developers, so evident when you play this collection.

Yeah, most modern pixel art games are actually 3D games masquerading as 2D pixel art, which is why they often play better than old sprite-based games. I read something a while back explaining that with Shovel Knight.

Love to see a video on this subject.

I remember seeing an Ori dev video showing all the 3D planes, really impressive.

I got to this blue Samurai boss in Revenge of Shinobi.

Are the devs fxxxing real with this boss? He's completely invincible to shurikens, he has a huge sword which out ranges your puny short sword.

You have to make a pixel perfect jump to land behind him and if you fail to attack at the correct microsecond, he turns and slices you to bits in an instant. Even with rewind this is impossible.

Also wtf is up with the Skeletons in Golden Axe?

Cheap AF, they basically ignore any hit detection to screw you over.

Also the AI is so annoying, this used to be one of my favourite games, but playing it now is a bittersweet experience.

The AI always, always tries to circle behind you, so you do this awkward circle dance, trying to line enemies up on one side. Which hardly ever works.

Otherwise the AI just charges at you constantly when they are a set distance away.

You can't even finish off the enemy you're currently wailing on before someone else charges you.

This is why I hold Final Fight in such high regard. It's almost always fair.

Awesome, thanks.

I'm on the final boss in Golden Axe, it's rough in solo play. Being assaulted by 2 skeletons while trying to beat Death adder. He busts out random special moves that destroy your life bar.

And he has this unavoidable attack where lighting homes in on you on the ground.

I think my great memories of this game and most arcade games come from playing them with friends next to you as a kid.
