So pretty funny this. The Gamecube and dozen games for it that I bought off this dude on eBay came with an extra game that he didn't mention in the listing. A game that wouldn't be considered Acclaim's finest Hour....
BMX XXX!
But the great thing about it is that its unopened....brand new in the package. May as well keep it that way. No idea why the guy didn't tell me he was sending it to me...
So did the Nintendo direct finish? What happened?
What in the name of fuck? Well it wont be that bad for sideways wii remote only platformers.... I guess.
Disparage Shenmue one more time and there'll be trouble..... you sonofabitch.
Guys that new Mario 3d world trailer is fucking sweet
Wow, Scribblenauts Unlimited is releasing Dec 6th in Europe over a year later than the rest of the world and after the sequel
My anus is itching, something has moved in the force, todays Sonic Lost World trailer looks AAA.
I'm scared.
The new u firmware is 700mb
I couldn't play dark Souls yesterday. ;__;
I want to get through Blighttown as fast as possible so I can reach Anor Londo, one of my favorite parts of the game.
Sold on Mario. Never doubted it for a second.
^^ lol. Guys, get Art Academy. I want to see your nude drawings. For $3.99 it's worth it.
Guys Tak Fujii from Konami has cancer.
Guys your USA Nintendo direct is way different to the euro one, it's worth checking out both after the same Iwata bit.
Euro one has significant amouts of crumpets. Or pikelets.
You need to see the euro n.direct sonic video, seriously good video.
And Nintendo ruined Zelda. Great just great. This is what everyone gets for complaining.
dungeon items are now in shops.
This is from gaf explaining Zelda. I am copying his reaction too cause I feel the same. I did like upgrades though, upgrades being the key, not the actual fuckingitem in a shop! Zelda is about exploring not shopping!!!!!!! From gaf:
- Find dungeons.
- Explore dungeons at your own pace.
- Items no longer found in dungeons. Purchasable from in-game store with rupees.
- Purchase or rent. Former gives you the item permanently for a high price, latter gives you the item with a temporary amount of uses for a lower cost.
- Buy items in any order.
- Take items to dungeons and experiment.
And this is my opinion post:
My 2c: implementation will make or break, but I'm very pessimistic. I, personally, had no issue with finding items in dungeons. While breaking up the traditional pacing and giving greater flexibility to item order and usage is a fine idea in theory, bottlenecking it behind an in-game economy system does not fill me with hope.
My reasoning is that it makes me think of Skyward Sword, a game I do really love, but loathed the item upgrade system. In that, Nintendo did exactly what I didn't want: took a decent idea (item upgrades) and implemented it with the laziest, grindy, economy driven system possible. Upgrading items was less about exploring and discovering unique pieces, and more about grinding fucking randomised loot drops from monsters and chests.
As items are integral to the Zelda series, blocking acquisition off behind an in-game economy, an economy that is inherently random, runs a serious risk of introducing unnecessary padding and grinding just to use integral parts of game design. This is especially true for renting. Nobody is going to enjoy their hammer falling apart mid-dungeon, nor does managing an arbitrary durability constitute as enjoyment. Instead, like Skyward Sword, it sounds more like work, or a chore, just to get to the good stuff.
Fingers crossed the implementation is well rounded and the team understands the risks of a system like this. Everything else about the game looks superb, and I'm getting some cool old-school Zelda vibes from the dungeon layouts. But if this is what the Zelda team considers shaking up the formula, and is implemented poorly like Skyward Sword's item upgrading (which was also an attempt to freshen up the formula), then I'm going to be a bit concerned for Zelda Wii U.
The Legend of Zelda is not a traditional RPG, and it is not Monster Hunter. It does not need economy or stat driven systems putting pacing and progression in a stranglehold, where the only way to move forward is to grind against semi-random variables.

Xzibit Bowser?
Pimp my mushroom.
Just watched the wii on wii u pad play. How utterly pointless not being able to use the actual gamepad buttons
Who thinks up this?
Maybe it was difficult to implement.
I dont get it, on vc you can even change button mapping for multiple systems and the U is running the wii game anyway so why not just use U buttons?
