I'm playing Halo 2 right now (almost finished). It's not only not bad, but pretty good. What they do poorly other developers would be glad to hold up ... never mind, I just remembered the cut-scene from last night that included a large, ugly rendered flower-muppet that looked like the lead-plant in Little Shop of Horrors.
WTF was gogin on with that? Was that supposed to be God? Were Master Chief and Arbitor halucinating, or having a near death experience? Are they actually dead? Please someone explain WTF is going on there. I was actually able to follow the story this time around up until that point.
But, in defense of Halo, Yoda, it's a very good shooter and worth the accolades it has been afforded.
You don't know X-COM? One of the most popular and greatest PC games of all time. It is a strategy game where you need to manage the defense of Earth from evil alien bastards and it was AWESOME! Well the first one was, seems the series went downhill. It's the greatest (only) strategy game I have ever played.
To have that turned into a shooter, what the hell. The premise is so awesome. You managing bases around the world, collecting info on alien technology so that you can replicate it and slowly build a defense good enough to take the bastards out. How can that be replicated in a FPS. Ugh stupid FPSs.
Oh the aliens with the cape, those bastards. Man this game was so awesome. I want to play it now.
No, which is really weird, as I was an avid PC gamer up until 94 (and even more than that absolutely loved Microprose from their Gunship days -- apparently they made X-COM). From Wiki: "#1 on the IGN's list of Top 25 PC Games of All Time in 2007 and again in 2009"
Kind of reminds me of what happened the ShadowHeart -- they took one of the best RPG's of the 16 bit era and turned it into that turd on the 360.
I think X-Com was also #1 in Next Generation magazine (remember that) top 100 games of all time or something. It's incredible, it poops all over every other strategy game. I try to play strategy games I can't cause they bore me to death, this game was genius.
Your sig goes perfectly with this news.
It's called the Gravemind, and it controls the Flood.
I really should play all three of those games again. It's been far too long.
When you go back after all these years it's a real trip to see which game in the series did what, particularly the first two. The first one is amazing, and the second one is so much better than I remembered. I can;t wait to play the third (probably next year), as the only thing I recall about that is the lame opening jungle level.
Thanks for the link, I'm reading now. EDIT: That still makes no sense.
Amazing, but it doesn't beat this.
Same here. But I bought all 4.
I remember X-com, isometric strategy shooter.
Weird it being turned into a FPS. Reminds me of Shadowrun's conversion. Even more annoying is that 2K games denied just a couple of days ago that it was working on X-com. Liars.
I think I just spotted a new game for y'all
Touch, man to man.

Nice to see Falcom's still got it. I'm amazed how they survive on just one franchise without completely whoring it out (looking at you Natsume).
