So.. Just checked my 60gig backup refurb, it has no PSN accounts tied to it, and doesn't have the latest firmware. It too has reverted back to 12/31/1999.

Are you telling me that some guy who has never connected their PS3 online will have this crap happen to them. What about the stupid people, the ones that don't know anything won't they think their console broke. I feel sorry for retail stores tomorrow, stupid people everywhere will be asking for fixes.

I have a 60 gig, have not connected it online for over a month, did not today and played Uncharted 2. It has to update the software, I canceled and then had no problems. My system clock reads 1/1/2000 (which give the time zone is one day ahead of the states, so that makes sense). Doesn't look like a hack, looks like timed issue.
Like a lot of people, I wasn't planning to use my PS3 today anyway. I'm only just now catching up on my 360 launch titles (see sig).
Uncharted 2 seems to be a game that works for whatever reason, try another I bet it won't let you play.

Hey, while I have you on this topic, I've been meaning to ask...with Trophies, how the fuck are the supposed to work? This year I replayed Uncharted 1 and then played UC2 with my lady, and none of the trophies ever showed up, even after synching. Do you have to be online when you are playing the game to get the trophies?
No, when you are offline trophies get stored on your system. When you are online and you try to view trophies it will attempt to sync, that is when it sends all trophy info to Sony and stores it there.

Seriously Sony, you are getting confirmation from readers, meaning you are reading message boards like the rest of us to see who is affected or not. Holy hell they have no clue what is going on do they.
