That XIII remaster is only £3.70 ish.
Other big discounts too.
I have a bunch on my wishlist, but now I'm wondering if I should just avoid them.
I bought Metal Slug 2 as it was one of the very few on sale and yet still expensive compared to better more modern games.
The resolution is really low, I took for granted that most arcade ports would look as crisp as Capcoms arcade collections.
It's blurry and looks almost stretched or blown up. The filters make the screen darker and adds marginal detail.
But this game has horrific slowdown, which affects gameplay a lot. It almost feels unplayable at times. Is this how MS2 was originally?
I got some of those ACA Neo Geo games and recall them being very basic and dirty ports. Haven’t played them in awhile though. Remember having some issues with the front end mode selection. It was as if selecting between modes was super sensitive and jumpy making it a pain in the ass to highlight the mode you were trying to select. Capcom actually takes care and does a quality job with their collections. These are nowhere close to that. Shame really because there’s some great games that could use a good port. There’s probably some good SNK ports out there but probably wouldn’t recommend the ACA ones unless you just really want to play a game that isn’t done better.
Speaking of Capcom collections, I picked up a physical copy of Marvel Vs Capcom: Fighting Collection for the PS4 today. The physical version just came out today and my local Best Buy only got two copies in. My local Walmart probably didn’t get any. Can order them from their online store but man it feels like physical is really fading away. Outside of Nintendo the physical game selection in store is looking pretty bare bones these days.
So the game default has a screen filter of 00.
And when you scroll through them they go up from A1 to A5 then B1 to B5.
But as default it's set to 00 which you assume is OFF. But it isn't, if you scroll left from 00 it turns it off and shows the raw pixels which looks much crisper.
The slowdown is there in this game but playing more, it comes and goes so it isn't that bad.
I hear that Metal Slug x exists because the slowdown in MS2 was so bad.
Used to love the huge sprites of my Marvel faves.
Played some and yeah the sprites and artwork in these games is so good even now.
Nintendo is sending out emails saying if you buy a 12 month individual membership on Switch Online you get a code for 12 months to give to a friend.
If there's anyone looking to do it, I would very much appreciate a code. 🤓
Only individual? No family memberships?
Are the codes region locked?
Good question.
I just checked on Nintendo’s support page and the codes are indeed region locked. Unfortunate to as my subscription is almost up and I was going to renew it.
I beat all the bonus levels in Portal, good little game. I liked the extra challenge in the levels but still found most of it easy.
I'd love to play a FPS that has some Portal mechanics in it.
Also been playing ACA Neo Geo Metal Slug 2.
I've fixed the image quality, controls and screen size. There's a save state system.
Great game, very fun, horrendous slowdown for like 50% of the time.
Never have it been happier to have a protector.
Now how to remove it. It's tempered glass. Not sure I'll bother.
Been playing mostly Final Fantasy II Pixel Remaster and Marvel Vs Capcom: Fighting Collection Arcade Classics this weekend. It’s a blast playing these Capcom Marvel games after all these years. Still look and play great. Played through The Punisher for the first time, it was pretty fun. Got some big ass sprites in there and still a real nice looking game.
First time playing Final Fantasy II and if this is the least favourite game in the series I can see why. Don’t care for the core leveling system in the game. Progressing through the game is kind of obtuse what with talking to people and learning key words. Game just seems like a bit of a pain to play through. Thank god for the modifiers that you can use in these remasters to make things quicker and easier.
Oh yeah, the number of empty rooms in FFII. My god it’s got to be like 90% of the rooms.
Been inching near the end of Metroid Prime. I was away at Atlanta which reduced my playtime but got some time in this evening.
I've looked at the pixel remaster a few times, but I just don't think it's ever going to happen.
It’s so much easier to play in the Pixel Remaster thanks to the modifiers you can use in it like a gold multiplier and getting various stat boosts after battles. Kind of just mindlessly hacking through it right now for the most part. Toggling random battles off when backtracking or just want to explore is a great feature. It has a nice pixel look to it and nice music. Story is quite dull so far though.
