Was Far Cry 3 written by morons or am I overreacting?

The mechanics of the game are quite fun but I just can't get over this juvenile setting filled with borderline racist depictions of various cultures.

So we have a bunch of rich guys in Bangkok having sex with prostitutes and then travelling to this mysterious island to just enjoy themselves without any care in the world.

South-Asia is once again nothing more than a place to meet naked ladies, be in the form of a strip club or some street prostitute, and a place to get wasted. But watch out, if you go too far down the rabbit hole it is also a dangerous world for unsuspecting innocent white foreigners.

Everything is about these stereotypes. Human trafficking is a phenomenon where rich westerners are taken into captivity by ruthless savages who then sell them forward. And the bad guys seem to take pleasure from knowing that they have captured Americans. Then there are simple but noble natives who are willing to help, ancient mysteries with magical tattoos, brown bad guys let alone all the other such things that make me grin.

I mean look at this fucking guy, I doubt there is a way to make him more dudebro than that. It's not all bad of course, I did enjoy moving down tigers just to create a better loot sack. Am I overreacting though? I wish I could just disable the entire story arch and just play it as a free roaming shooter of sorts. That way none of the characters would have these annoying personalities.

Thoughts?

Did you not read my escape from douchebag island review?

Destiny raids wont allow random matchmaking you need to find 5 other friends to get on. The raids will last hours.

Raids are “extremely crafted,” six-player, friends-only gauntlet runs that might best be described as gut-checks. Yes, they will be difficult, and they will absolutely require communication and cooperation. That’s why Bungie isn’t supporting matchmaking for them; the developers don’t want them to be played by disparate groups of strangers. But Smith is quick to point out that they’re not like Strikes – the instanced dungeon-like runs that might take a mere 20-60 minutes – but more like MMO raids in that you’re going to want to buckle up and get comfortable for a couple hours.

“The activity is going to take you and your group of five buddies into a place that you’ve never been,” Smith explains. “A place that you will return to frequently. And [it will] demand of you things you’ve never even really been asked to do in a shooter before.

Sounds cool but the restriction on random matchmaking is idiotic. Its always easy to coordinate with 6 people to play something that lasts hours... wtf.

Nintendo first quarter results remain completely horrible.MK sold a ton but it did not move systems. Only 500k wii u systems sold the last three months worldwide. 3DS sales are down 50% from last year, holy shit. They lost $100 million already, though a lot of that came from outside expenses, not really from the game sales.

3DS is the scary part, that thing is sinking fast.

Wait... so going off the guys post you're saying it's true that unsuspecting innocent white foreigners get human trafficked by Asians where rich westerners are taken into captivity by ruthless savages who then sell them forward?

I'm saying people who go into shady countries get kidnapped for being American because they know they have money. Happens all the time.

So you will have 5 friends ready to play a 3 hour mission at any time you are ready to go?  Nyaa

The issue is not what is better its the not having the option to have an alternative.

It really is sad, but did they expect one game to make that much of a difference?  If so, they are stupid.  Last year, the 3DS had a phenomenal roll out of quality games.  It seems like every month they had at least one huge title.  I can't even think of one single title that stands out this year, besides Tomodaichi Life.

They're stretching themselves too thin between console and handheld...back when game developmentwas cheaper and required less people they could get away with it. Now they can't. I can totally see their next machine being some kind of hybrid device like people have said.

Yup. It's obvious that Nintendo simply cannot sustain two different platforms with enough games for an entire generation. Most 3rd parties are done with Nintendo, so they need to give up on that pipe dream, and focus all of their attention on a single platform.

I enjoy games that attempt new things even if it's not great (it's not bad at all either, classic snipe people mission) than games that have no variety at all.

It feels shitty to play, goes on for too long, and comes after 30 minutes of trudging through boring shit (not 100% on the order here, but I know that whole section was a major snore fest). Don't follow or precede cinematic walking with one of the most annoying and uninteresting "classic" excuses for variety. Nyaa It's bad variety, and it's executed badly. In short: it sucks.

It comes after you having to get to the sniper which was one of the best gameplay scenarios in the game. Once you get there you get a great cutscene then you have to do the mission and then super awesome invasion happens right after. It fits perfectly with the story, works as a great action segment. It does last too long and it is simple cause the gunplay isnt the best in TLOU but again no where near suck. Nothing sucks in TLOU really.

And that is my take on it.
