And while no one (aside from possibly Leo) would be interested, Hometown Story has officially become the strangest most bi-polar game I've ever played. For the first 20 hours of the game it goes back and for between mildly amusing to tediuous and boring as hell. Just not a great game on any level. And then somewhere after the 20 hour mark something clicks and it has become one of the most addictive games I've ever played. I had a really hard time putting it down last night. Can't say I'll ever recommend this to anyone due to the early time investment, but I'm genuinally having fun with it right now.
I was using the Classic Controller Pro. But then I got to World 2, and discovered that some levels require the Upad to play. Why? Because Nintendo wants you to touch and blow your way through the level. And no, it's not as fun as it sounds. In fact, it's not fun at all. It's stupid.
Edit: I acidentally deleted my original post, so I rewrote it.
Oh man.... Gamestop had sold out of Super Mario 3D World. Apparently aside from the preorders they only got 4 extra copies. Brilliant move there GS. They tried to sell me a digital copy, but fuck it, if I'm going digital (and I am) I'm not giving Gamestop a piece.
^ It's a small download too, Robio. Only 1.7GB.
Yeah that's why I decided to get it. My harddrive is running low on space. After this download I'm around 5 GB, so it'll be time to look into getting a harddrive.
Does anyone here have a harddrive for the Wii U? I could use a recommendation.
Tried the demo. Compared to Lego City it looks like a next gen game. For some reason my capture looks crappy but the game is a sight to behold.
I remember reading CVGs first look at the game and they had to check to make sure the game wasn't on PS4. It has the same multiple objects with physics moving about like Knack. In fact it probably has more objects with no framerate impact.
The game is a bit too chaotic and bashy, bash bash bash repeat. So not as good as City but I have yet to try the open world. Flying about as Iron Man is cool but there are tons of invisible walls in midair while flying. You switch between Avengers and the AI takes over when you take control of another character. The characters have a lot of their superpowers replicated so in that respect the combat is a bit more satisfying than your average lego game. The humour is okay but City steamrolls it in this aspect so far.
Tried the Sonic demo, it was decent, not brilliant but okay. It looks beautiful though, love the visual design of the levels and the silky smooth 60 FPS and it looks great offscreen too. BTW Lego Marvel looks crappy offscreen, massive colour loss considering it's such a colourful game.
It's GAF.

I just link it. All these articles came to my attention all at once because of the thread^ so they were posted in a block
I also link stuff like this:
Analysts revise Wii U forecasts downward
Expect GameCube-like sales
EDIT: Pretty nice that it's slowly turning around the media after a whole years worth of negativity.

Nintendo Recommended HDD
I recommend the Western Digital My Book HDD. I have the 500GB model that I've used with my PC for years, and it's an excellent USB HDD. I'll be using it with my U when I run out of space.
I tried LEGO LOTR some time ago, and I found out LEGO games are not for me. They're dull.
I am considering getting a 3DSXL as a christmas present for my daughter. Hope I can get a good deal out of those Black Friday ones.
I posted some NFS U grabs from my playthrough in the Miiverse thread.
MY EYES!
j/k they look alright.
I wonder how it compares to the PC version on max settings.
I can't get the captures looking the same as they do on my tv. If you shrink your browser by 40% it looks more like it should. But I can see especially with the closer textures the pics haven't captured the same level of detail. Really annoying.
Via Google, PC max settings search:
Yeah, JPEG pic have a lot of compression done to them. Just like watching HD Youtube gameplay videos will look nothing like playing the game on a real TV.
^ PC wins!
Ack.
Didn't notice this in my pic till paying attention, the environment is accurately reflected on the road surface. All the shadows sync up too. Digital Foundry said that was one of the things the U version had up on the 360/PS3 versions.
