M sure Watchdogs will be fun, but nothing, absolutely nothing stands out as next gen.
What does it mean to be next-gen anymore?
PS4 and Durango, but not Wii U.
I made a mental note of this.
Next-gen is just an illusion. Wii U isn't next-gen anymore, because once a "next-gen" console comes out, it's now considered "current-gen." PS4 and Durango are next-gen until they are released, then they too will become "current-gen," and PS3/360 will then become "last-gen." It's all meaningless marketing BS, really.
This past gen many considered the HD consoles the "next gen" consoles and ignored the wii. The "HD" consoles was just the easier way of saying Wii you don't belong in this category. Well this time there is no clear thing that distinguishes the consoles like one being non HD so they are using "next gen" as the way to push Wii U out of the category. Basically a bunch of companies want a way to phrase "Out on all systems but not Wii U" without saying it like that so this gens "HD" will be "next gen" I guess.
As for the correct term, a generation includes any new version of a console, it has nothing to do with power. Wii U is absolutely next gen but somewhere along the way that term came to mean only graphics.
There is this too. I wonder what are companies going to say when next gen becomes current gen. Someone is going to come up with some term that removes Wii U from the equation.

So what changed the FPS from the Doom style to the cinematic go down a scripted path style. Was it Half-Life? I'm starting to wonder, was that a good change? Don't get me wrong, I do think HL2 is the greatest FPS ever, better than Doom but for many different reasons most that have nothing to do with the FPS genre (its far more of a traditional action/adventure game than an FPS). Why did the Doom level design stop? Why did the Doom level of intensity stop. Why is it all take cover and do nothing while you magically heal bull crap rather than SHOOT ANY FUCKING THING THAT MOVES!!! KEEP SHOOTING RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN OMG 20 ENEMIES ON SCREEN AHHHHH!!!!
I want to spend a whole podcast disecting Doom, it is so amazing from a design perspective.
Doom is one of the greatest games of all time, I agree. I love the design, the atmosphere (some parts were legitimate scary and spooky) the soundtrack oh GOD THE SOUNDTRACK *fap fap fap*
Doom scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Just now playing it it made me jump.
I just learned American McGee is a dude that worked on Doom, his name was in the credits.
Yeah he was an art guy. Designed monsters etc... It;s how he got his reputation. Everyone, read Masters of Doom ferfuckssake, it is the best book about our hobby ever written. It's available for 43 cents on amazon.

I'm 67 hours into LEGO City and 99.9% complete. Missing one frigging token that doesn't show up in and completion listing in the game! All areas and levels say 100% complete. Where is this token? All my effort can't be for nought
