Yeah, Ubisoft has always said it was a Wii U exclusive. They are considering releasing it on other platforms, though.

Gulf in power between consoles and PCs make it hard for Crytek to really push Crysis 3 on PC


No compromises made on the PC version, and promises to "melt down PCs".


With Crysis 3 Crytek hopes to really push what current PC hardware is capable of producing, but admits the gulf in processing power between modern PCs and consoles makes the task a difficult one.


"There are brutal expectations around the PC version of Crysis 3," said Crytek CEO Cevat yerli during a gamescom livestream. "So this time we promise to melt down PCs."


"PCs are so far ahead now – from current generation consoles - so making Crysis 3 look great on the PC, like a benchmark quality on PC, and at the same time running fantastic on consoles is going to be that challenge that we didn't have in Crysis 2 because PCs and consoles were closer."


Back when the first Crysis was released the PC only game could really focus on pushing PC hardware to its limits, but multiplatform development makes it much trickier to aim as high.


"In Crysis we were only for PC so there weren't limitations," explained Yerli. "There is unfortunately always in a multi-platform development that kind of compromise that we have to take but at the same time we are trying not to take it, so we try to make sure that the PC version looks fantastic, plays fantastic, and this time we're saying 'Okay, let's not compromise the PC but let's try to push the consoles to make the PC version happen'."


Crysis 3 will be released in February 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

No Aspro, there is a long winded story behind this. The game was never announced as an exclusive it was never mentioned in the PR - in fact it was conspiculously missing from the PR that it was an Exclusive. Then an interview with Xavier Poix said it was exclusive but no one believed it because all the PR and commercials did not nail it down as an exclusive-  plus Origins was a mutliplatform game. We all assumed it would come out later on other platforms and hence was not a real exclusive. The Gamescon trailer then came out showing extensive touch screen use and with this at the end:

Which I posted yesterday in the Wii U launch thread.

The Joystiq article says this clearly:

"Considering the amount of touchscreen/Wiipad stuff going in this trailer, it's clear that Ubisoft has been taking Wii U integration seriously – we just didn't think it was that serious. All Rayman titles up until this point have been multiplatform, and since Ubisoft itself said the game wasn't necessarily an exclusive back in June, we kinda expected that to be the case."

So they contact Ubisoft and:

"We asked Ubisoft for clarification just to make super extra sure, and were told that "yes, Rayman Legends is a Wii U exclusive."

So now we are seeing a confirmation that it is an exclusive game. Not neccesarily just a timed exclusive where it's inevitable that it will come to other platforms.

It may later be ported but that is not the indication right now. Red Steel 2, Ubisoft said might come to PSMove but it never did for instance.
