Move racing wheel is real:
"Sony's just let slip that it's set to release a steering wheel add-on for its move controller, and if that's not enough to excite you maybe this will: it also doubles up as a set of handlebars with which you can control a virtual bike.
If that doesn't excite you maybe a look at the device will - it's an odd contraption that places the Move controller at its centre, and it also includes a full set of buttons as well as boasting force feedback. There are paddle shifters for when it's in racing configuration, and twistable throttle controls for when you're on your bike."
Sony conference went on till like 4am UK so I missed it.
Is there anything NOT mentioned in this summary? I'm trying to watch the conference but for some reason the feed is showing random interview. I'm wondering whether it's worth me watching if this is all they showed:
LOL, we knew it was real but Sony have taken it on as an official device?
That Star Trek gif is gold
I just watched it all, skipped the repeated stuff and boring stuff, which was most of the conference - wonderbook? PR speak and boring stuff. That conference was a bust. It's all on Nintendo now and they better hit it out of the park. They have so much stuff they are having 2 separate conferences. That has got to be good news.
That 3DS conference is going to be on at 5am for me. I am not waiting up for it.
Star wars 1313
Uncanny valley eyes.
What? Keighly says be blown away then shows us the worst gameplay I have ever seen of a guy clutching a wing.
Great graphics though.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand it turns into a standard pop and cover shooter that barely feels like Star Wars. If this is what next gen is like:
Ubisoft's Infectious ZombiU Coming Exclusively to Nintendo Wii U
LOS ANGELES — June 4, 2012 — Today, at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft challenged gamers to find out how long they can survive in the dilapidated, infected world of ZombiU – a new survival-horror shooter that will be released exclusively for Nintendo’s Wii UTM. ZombiU headlines a group of eight titles from Ubisoft that will be available for the Nintendo Wii UTM.
Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the studio behind critically acclaimed titles like From DustTM, Beyond Good & Evil® and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter®, ZombiU puts players in the middle of London circa 2012, where an outbreak has infected the population, destroying their humanity and turning them into mindless monsters preying on the flesh of the few remaining survivors. This fear-fueled first-person shooter takes all the terror, chaos and tension found in the best of the horror genre and adds original interactive elements, including a unique death mechanic that puts players in the body of a different survivor each time they die, allowing them to track and take down their old, infected characters, recover their equipment and see if they can stay alive just a little bit longer this time.
ZombiU showcases the innovative features of the Nintendo Wii UTM GamePad and creates new game experiences not possible on other consoles. The Nintendo Wii UTM GamePad serves as the player’s ultimate survival kit, called the “Bug Out Bag.” The Bug Out Bag is a backpack containing all the maps, tools, weapons and supplies that players can scavenge from the limited resources available in the devastated cityscape. ZombiU also uses the Nintendo Wii UTM GamePad’s touch screen, gyroscope and camera to create a tactile connection between gamers and the in-game world. Finally, ZombiU features a distinctive multiplayer adversarial mode that allows one player to take on the role of “Zombie Master,” spawning and controlling enemies from a top-down view on the Nintendo Wii UTM GamePad while the second player fights for survival on the big screen in first-person shooter view with the Nintendo Wii UTM Pro controller.
“ZombiU is a dark and daunting game that gamers will love to play again and again,” said Guillaume Brunier, producer at Ubisoft. “ZombiU takes advantage of the Nintendo Wii U’s one-of-a-kind capabilities and will be a launch title that every gamer will want to sink their teeth into.”
Ubisoft Embarks on a Legendary Adventure with Rayman Legends for Wii U
LOS ANGELES, USA — June 4, 2012 — Today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft® revealed Rayman Legends®, a brand new platforming adventure with innovative social functionality. Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, Rayman Legends will be available on Nintendo’s Wii U™ system.
“The combinations of new controls and original game styles that the Nintendo Wii U makes possible really inspired the creative ambition of the team working on Rayman Legends,” said Michel Ancel, creative director at Ubisoft. ”Rayman Legends expands upon what everyone loves about Rayman’s world, and adds new ways of playing together that will make it the most collaborative and fun game in the franchise.”
Rayman Legends is the follow-up to last year’s highly-acclaimed Rayman Origins®. Legends uses the innovative Wii U Gamepad to explore fresh multiplayer gameplay experiences and expand beyond the traditional platform games. Players use the Wii U GamePad to discover new ways to navigate through the game with touch–based gameplay to take out enemies or clear paths and gyroscope technology to manipulate and rotate platforms. The GamePad also allows you to continue the adventure of Rayman and his friends on the controller screen even while the television is off.
Rayman, Globox and the Teensies are back to embark on a new fantasy adventure through a series of legendary worlds with new environments, characters and enemies. Rayman Legends features a variety of uniquely-themed levels including several musical maps intricately set to creative soundtracks and a spooky medieval theme. Players can also connect online with friends through a variety of challenges to test their skill and speed, and see where they rank on the worldwide leaderboards.
Rayman Legends retains the fantasy appeal of its predecessor while adding a multitude of clever and entertaining gaming modes, new characters, new environments and a new soundtrack. The award-winning team of artists, designers and composers behind the UbiArt framework has also returned with an advanced engine to include multi-dimensional gameplay elements, an improved lighting system and updated game rendering that elevate Rayman Legends to the next level.
Is this a mistake?
Ubisoft confirms Rayman Legends as Wii U exclusive, new Rabbids game and Just Dance
Xavier Poix :
We then have Rayman Legends, which is a Wii U exclusive title on the Rayman brand. Just Dance won’t be specific to the Wii U, but we have specific features for the Wii U, later on we’ll explain exactly what we will have. And the Rabbids, which is an exclusive game also, Rabbids is a party game, this is a party game for the Wii U. We also have other titles, coming from other studios. We have eight titles for the Wii U.
Oh and:
Could be fake
Something I noticed about some of these games with uber graphics, including Star Wars 1313. There is no point in having the bestest graphics out there if your characters still have that dead eye zombie, non focusing eye thing going on. Games like LA Noire, Beyond Two Souls, Dead Space Extraction and Goldeneye do not have this problem.
Just watched the large Resident Evil 6 trailer
I only own the first game, not really bothered with picking the others up, but if there is a one disc trilogy because of the 25gb propriety Wii U discs, it might be worth it. Would be cool if it had gyro aiming and touch screen for inventory etc.
Interesting Ubisoft interview with Xavier Poix who is doing a few Wii U games.
It's E3, sorry for clogging up the comments, but there is tons of interesting stuff. Remember what that ex French journo said on GAF about the Wii U rendering two scenes, one 480p pic to the Wii U pad and one 720p image to the HDTV? Well this from Ubisoft pretty much confirms it:
GamesBeat: Like, how do you play Madden?
Poix: With two players? Well, aysmmetrical is nice, one player is here and the other uses the Wiimote. But you’re right, if you want to do the same thing as your opponents, yes, one is missing. But then you can go online… I think at first it’s a question of price, the price point. But you need to render two screens at the same time, so it lowers the quality of one screen. If we were to add another one, it means that the processor needs to be working on three screens. It would lower, again, the quality.
It's like split screen gaming, the graphics take a hit. So if you want to see the what the wii u hardware is really capable off it needs to be using the pad screen for a 2d map or something. So don't be suprised to see a lot of 720p Wii U games if they are rendering 3D images on the padlet.
Lastly, from the interview:
"GamesBeat: Is the zombie title going to be a launch title, most likely?
Poix: Yes. We have huge support from Nintendo on this title, huge support. You’ll see something tomorrow at our conference, and then something else at the Nintendo one."
Thanks for posting the Edge reviews of the conferences GG. Good stuff there. I was waiting for a few "professionial" reviews.
Glad you like them.
Heads up, G4 had a segment where they said "Xbox Smart Glass is a Ferrari to the Wii U's Corolla."
And Smart Glass suddenly a better experience than WiiU, thinks GiantBomb
Ahhhh nice to see G4 is as unbiased as ever. Well, good for them and the 12 people that regularly watch it. Hell they're not even good for E3 coverage anymore. They didn't show Microsoft's conference. I'd just gotten home from the hospital mid-way through their conference and turned it on to see an old episode of Quantum Leap. Spike TV was still showing it, but it's nice to know that G4, the network for video games, doesn't even cover them anymore.
More E3 nuggets:
Pachter thought Rayman Legends was a DS title.
Wow the next gen Majora's Mask trailer is awesome. Probably 99% certain fake but imagine if it was real but not a remake, you walk out of the clock tower into a completely new game with the same mask and notebook concept.
Heaven.
1 hour 22 mins till Wii U conference. Hyped?
I'm just reading them now, there is some funny stuff in there:
" Resident Evil 6 looked fun and slick, but not nearly as traumatic as whatever befell its developers backstage, who looked like they’d just seen a ghost. Or Keiji Inafune."
"One after another, people and games were rolled out that had many wondering what year it was. Halo 4, it turns out, does an excellent impression of Metroid Prime, the demo showing us a fetid forest through a convex tactical visor. Most of it was dedicated to a new enemy type and half of it, at least, seemed to require some thought. Some lore crept in, then blossomed into a montage that spoke of Forerunners, Cortana, and whatever else keeps Halo fans happy. They’re still out there, presumably, and very much in control."
A lot of people noticed that. Some GAF guys were saying some ex-retro staff were at 343?
"Then came God Of War: Ascension, which began in earnest Sony's psychological experiment to see just what a room full of people will rapturously applaud if you keep them sat there for long enough. There was no footage of the series-first multiplayer mode, with game director Todd Pappy instead playing through another ten minutes or so of God Of War's decade-old square-square-triangle combat. The same as ever, then, with the bonus niggling sense that they'd stripped back the HUD for the demo and there'll be many, many more QTEs in the final game. Applause."
15 mins now.
Everyone ready? Only 2 people online?
