HMV: Forget about the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of No More Heroes!

Retailer disses HD remake to promote Wii sequel.

Remember how crappy the PS360 version of No More Heroes was? It was so crappy that Marvelous had to release a patch in May to "stability."

If you do still remember the horrendous load times and other issues with the game, you're the target of a special message that was included in HMV's No More Heroes 2 listing today:

"Forget about what happened with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions! A new No More Heroes!! More extreme!!! More sexy!!!! It will live again on Wii!!!!"

The actual text of the listing also mentions the epic failure of the HD remake, saying, "In April, with the release on PS3 and Xbox 360, it came to 'appropriate hardware,' something that fans had wanted. However, the actual game was a bit (?) buggy, and a patch was offered a month after release."

That "?" is in the actual listing.

The font above the screens looks pretty official. I wonder if MMV had anything to do with this...

It looks alright. Some iffy graphics (character skins, explosions, animations) but it seems solid, if it's not as linear as indicated in this level which was actually tiny outside the vehicle chases (which looked quite cool).

New GoldenEye trailer, it's mostly the same but has glimpses of some new scenes.

New screens:
http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Surrounded_Bond.jpghttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Stealth_dam.jpghttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Snow_1_1.jpghttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Guards_flashlights.jpghttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Guards.jpghttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Facility_2.jpghttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Dam_firefight.jpghttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Facility_1.jpghttp://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/Bond_jump.jpg
They have a decent amount of detail (though some stuff that should be 3D are just painted on) alongside seemingly nice lighting, though the outdoor glimpse with the chopper fight in the video is a bit worrying. But it's only a glimpse.

Woah that new Bond game looks freaking awesome! I was blown away by the gameplay footage, the change to 3rd person helps so much, what a difference. The action feels a lot more cinematic, the game looks polished. Wow, I am impressed.

FEAR is a huge piece of shit. The only thing scary about it is how crappy it is. It's a game with no level design... it's sad cause the action and gameplay isn't bad.

The best co-op shooter returns. On Steam. For Free!
Valve is the most awesome company ever, I had no idea they hired these guys and had them help with Left 4 Dead and other games. The original concept was the most awesome UT2004 mod, then they announced this commercial sequel based on the Source engine then they just disappeared. And now this! Best news ever!

I never played the original but I plan on getting this game. I also like that they have new Source Engine SDK with the game.

SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:

It's basically like a top down Left 4 Dead. Many of the features were migrated to the FPS format, knowing the same people worked on it is like a duh moment for me. The whole swarm deal, the campaign based play, the yells of the marines to warn when they reload or whatever so that the others act accordingly, etc. But Alien Swarm was a tougher, less accessible (despite being top down with simple controls), more hardcore game. Friendly fire, lots of gadgets to use, and squad tactics being a must, not just sticking together and strolling through the levels with the occasional boss. And like L4D you were mostly going from A to B with the occasional set piece like an elevator ambush or defending a point for a period. Also instead of just finding new guns in the levels you upgraded your marines inbetween campaign levels. For example akimbo handguns was upgraded pistol skill, you didn't just find a second gun. And there were classes. Hacker, heavy weapons, medic. I don't remember it well but some could use miniguns, others heal, hack doors open and use tools like a welder to weld doors shut and stall the swarm. Turrets to place, flares to throw and light up corridors to see the enemies (and give slight auto aim to everyone on your team for the enemies that were illuminated). Lots and lots of nifty sub mechanics to add depth, but it was mostly about positioning your marines right, skill and coordination, each covering an angle, or providing support, etc.

My guess is this is not gonna be as fully developed as other Valve games, hence why it's free (say, too few alien types, levels, etc) but whatever, with the SDK the fans will add more content. Heck some crazy people will probably remake the original campaigns and various add-on campaigns fans had made fully. I do hope they've kept the same format though, with the whole choosing what campaign level to play next from a map, so having somewhat of branching paths in the campaigns, and all that, and not make it simpler and more mainstream like L4D was made to be, otherwise there's not much point in having both despite the different perspective.

Now I wonder if they also have them working on a Source based multiplayer Thief-like experience considering the same developers made the Thievery mod for UT99 and were working on a similar mod for UT2004 and later for UT3, which also disappeared for years alongside Alien Swarm: Source. That would be fantastic.

Some whiners think it would have sold more if they had it available on PSN as a PS3 port. Well, they probably don't even really think that, they just use it as an excuse to port beg, like it matters. I assume that's the choice he means, as if Konami didn't know PSP games sell like ass in the West when they made it and expected a million. The game was obviously made for Japan with the whole Monster Hunter influence, from the co-op focus & bosses to the actual monster extras. That didn't quite work out in sales but that doesn't mean it would have done better on PS3. Edit: Glad to see the whiner put his friends (more like alt accounts) to work though, that's real mature there, lmao. Oh look, you guys totally appeared together by total chance, I suppose you expect me to say "no" so you can then go to the trouble of generating proof as the site admin you are and continue your acting drama, lmao. No thanks.

Pot, meet kettle.  You voted up your own post with a sock account.  I'd call you a troll, but you're sincere in your petulance.

Oh, and BTW, don't be scared to name names.  You're talking to Dvader, and want to know the best part?  He didn't even vote.

I haven't been on all day, you are a complete loon.

EDIT... on second thought I wont go there.

Just got back from watching "Inception"

The film was great...just lasted an hour longer then it should have.

When the film was over everybody in the theater stretched and let out a yawn. I'm being dead fucking serious. LOL

Though many (including me) clapped afterwards.

The film had a highly original concept that they fleshed out well (with some faults), Ellen Page was hot as fuck, and the acting was outstanding. It just that the credits should have rolled right when the third dream began.
