Monster Hunter is the next test, if it doesn't pass the Wii is doomed.
I know it sucks for most, but I don't care. Most demos have wrongfully dissuaded me from buying games and only one convinced me to buy one (cal of Duty 2). I'd prefer that they not exist at all so that they are not a distraction to development, and now that they are going to charge that should only push back release dates more (so they don't stifle demo revenue).
I thought Just Cause 2 was an April release.
Came out last week of March.
All of the top eleven are sequel (or all but 2 of the top 20). Yakuza 3... doesn't look good for Yakuza 4 fans who don't speak Japanese.
Great? I'd say it's about right.
Just Dance/ Just Cause ... maybe people confused them at retail and bought the wrong one. I can see Just Cause not doing well. BBBC2 is still new enough and there would be a lot of overlap with consumers for those two games.
I also got to think the open-world genre has been over-exposed given everything that came out last year.
It depends. It's all about building hype. Sometimes the proper advertising is enough. See Just Dance. Other times reviews and online reception in general alone help. See Demon's Souls for example. Something to click and build hype. Personally I didn't see any hype build up for it. LKS is a different case as it's a niche concept (seriously, can you people stop bringing these games up as any kind of benchmark, MadWorld, LKS and the like, no they don't count, just like Ico and Okami didn't count for the PS2), RS2 on the other hand did have the potential for mainstream appeal with the shooting and slicing, but hype wasn't built for one reason or another. Nobody spoke of it excitedly outside people who actually got it, then came the reviews saying it's just OK, for Wii, and all that, and in general reactions were mixed. It just passed by like absolutely nothing special, like countless other titles, for all systems, not just the Wii. Part of that is marketing, the ads were shit honestly, part of that is reviews and general attitude toward the title from people who did or didn't play it. Absolutely nothing clicked together in its favor. It has its flaws and it's far from perfect but for what it does it deserved a lot more attention and praise, they could port it as is on PS3 Move and you'd suddenly have every online and offline publication raving about it I'm sure. Teh HD.

For the record, The Conduit didn't blow the doors off the NPD because it was not a good game. All of the reviews from the large companies (and aspro) said the following:
+ Looks good ("for a Wii game") -- this one I did not say. Technically it was very good, artistically it looked like shit.
+ Controls are excellent.
+ Game is short, and level designs are poor.
It was marketed well by SEGA (though I didn't think they print ads did them any favors). I think it was just a matter of word of mouth working against it.
That is because of the following reasons:
+ Core Gamers know that they should be into Yakuza, but they have never tried it and don't really want to (so they don't bring it up because they don't want to reveal their deficiency)
+ Core Gamers actually did buy Madworld and were disappointed with it, so they love slagging it off.

Hey Yanks, No More Heroes 2 is $35 at Amazon.com today.
NMH2 is still $30 too expensive.
Thank Zeus that the west still buys real games or who knows what would have happened to the Japanese developers who don't make baby-games.
Go to hell.
I'll go with that. But like I said, the core gamers (and most press are), are not going to bring up Yakuza 3's failure because they "know" why it failed, cause to the core they still think that Yakuza is a GTA-clone but in Japan with a lot of weird shit, plus the fact that none of them have actually played it and they don;t want to reveal their deficiencies.
Whereas there is no clear reason why Madworld "failed" in the west -- so it makes it something interesting to talk about (for the first 7 times at least). I mean it's a real enigma, that thing should have broken cash registers.
