The Wii-only and well-reviewed samurai Western Red Steel 2 sold about 50,000 copies in the U.S. in its first month of release, according to financial analyst Michael Pachter. [UPDATE: Ubisoft comments.]
Ubisoft says:
UPDATE: A Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed the sales figures but correctly pointed out that they are based on only a partial month's performance, as Red Steel 2 was released on March 23, less than half a month before NPD's March reporting period ended on April 3. "Considering that the NPD sales only accounted for 12 days on the store shelves and that NPD doesn't include all retailers we are looking forward to a complete month of sales data to see where we stand. Why do reviewers have platform biases, maybe they just didn't like the game that much.
The Conduit, according to gaf is around 350k LTD, this one sold even less so you can expect around that number or less in the same time frame. Maybe it has tiny legs that keep it around 40k for a few months.

Ok so 370k now.
Well that isn't exactly bias, that is a poor attempt to play the game, laziness and all that.

Ok, but do you think reviews matter much. The majority of wii owners are probably not looking at game sites every day. There have been many highly reviewed Wii games that still don't sell well like Little King's Story. I don't think internet hype would have helped this game much.
Yeah that was probably a bad idea.
"A free demo is a luxury we have in the game industry that we don't have in other industries such as film. Because we've had this free luxury for so long, now there are plans to change this people are complaining about it. The reality is that we might not see any free game demos in the future. Every time we see a publisher doing something to improve the industry, making things more commercially viable and actually increasing the market, people instantly think this is only some money-hungry ploy. Yes it is quite unpopular, but this is a messaging issue. ...there is a genuine interest here to give gamers something more than a small demo released for free." - Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli
I suppose Hollywood should charge people to see their movie trailers too, huh?
No Just Cause 2? I wonder what Yakuza 3 did.
I wonder what the NSMB Wii numbers will be like in Galaxy month.
Great legs for Heavy Rain.
Looks like Ubi won't support the Wii anymore with good third-party efforts. Didn't they say something like that where their future support will depend on Red Steel 2's sales?
At least there's PoP but it's multi-platform and I think the Wii one won't sell as much.
Expect more Just Dance and other games of those types from now on.

I agree with you guys. It was nothing like the first Red Steel. They should've started a brand new franchise.
