And the best d-pad ever. CAPCOM has copied a billion times with their various Street Fighter pads bundled with different games in different generations, though theirs are nowhere near as good as the original either.
The analogue pad didn't beat the N64, Nights first released in early July 96 in Japan, the N64 was released in late June in Japan, and both released later elsewhere in the world. Nights was first in the US and EU though.

while the pessimist fears this is true.

You can find them on Ebay. I think Leo has one.
Two actually.
You're both wrong. The Atari has a digital joystick, and SEGA wasn't the first to market. The true first analogue stick was on the Vectrex.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileThe Atari 5200 uses a non-self-centering analog stick. Both the Vectrex and the 5200 came out the same year: 1982. It's difficult to tell which may have been released first since retro sites only state the year they came out. Wikipedia claims they both came out the same month: November.
Every source I've seen gives the Vectrex credit as the first, including Wikipedia. But I'll take a draw. The key point is, SEGA deserves nothing.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileThe TRS-80, which started selling in 1977 has an analog controller (I know because I still have them, and as a kid took them apart many times). They started bundling joysticks with the system in 1979 (which would be how I got mine).
This appears to be an internet blindspot -- I cannot even find any photo's of it.
Found a picture of this nifty pen though. These used to be THE bomb when I was a kid.
Further proof that Nintendo's online plan sucks!
Somebody at GS said how he wanted to buy a Wii again (don't know why he sold his first one) and asked if he can transfer all his old games to the new one. The answer was obviously painful since he can't.
Kids do that, don't they? They buy a Wii or any system (I saw one kid trading in a PS3 to Gamestop once, he was like 14) and they sell it either because they get bored of it or they have no money, they sell it. And then they buy it again later!
I would hate to be their parents!

But nobody cared!
Nintendo still gets the credit for the analog stick. I guess it's because of Super Mario 64.

Day one! I didn't get the first one until later, but I'm getting the 2nd one as soon as it comes out!
There we go, that's the answer I was looking for. So it does temporary copy games on the SD card to the Wii channel whenever you play off of the SD menu.
I was wondering what that was.
Yeah. I was surprised by the crisp graphics.
Makes me want to download some more N64 games. I love Starfox 64! It's like the Ocarina of time for Starfox games!

Though I guess we didn't explicitly say, we're talking about home consoles. Perhaps a meagre difference but I consider the microcomputers like this and the Commodore as something separate.

At least that Nintendo rep said they're looking into it. Maybe if enough people complain, Nintendo will be forced to offer it. It worked with SD Card support for VC/WiiWare games. Sure, it took a couple years, but the ridge is DEAD!
In my opinion, anyone under 17 really shouldn't be allowed to trade in anything with out their parents being there.
And three years later, Sony will come out with the "PS3 Stick" which will have a soft pick ball on the end.
