I hope Nintendo is planning on selling that Pro controller separately too. I want one of those.
"Legacy gaming systems just don't look good on these fancy, new HD TVs. LG has a solution to that...they've made an old-school CRT TV! This baby will cost you just over $200, but there's no word on a stateside release just yet. I might like to pick one of these up!" --GoNintendo
Me want!
First though, just have to say that I worked a bit to get this game today. I went to a few stores, called around, hoping somebody would break the street date to no luck.
It was later in the afternoon and I decided to go to this mom and pop store which don't sell many games but mostly anime stuff and they just happened to have it today. They don't care about street dates obviously but I did have to pay cash and a dollar more, which was worth it to get the game early.
So it was just blind luck I found it.
Anyway, the game is really fun! It's not as deep as SFIV but I think the zaniness makes the game more intense and crazy. It's basically Marvel VS Capcom 2.
There are only 3 buttons (light, medium, and heavy) and each button has either a kick or a punch depending on the motion of the direction pad. Combos are crazy and easy to pull off. I say the game is easy enough for casuals but deep enough for skilled players to kick some butt. Ryu is easiest to play obviously, but that's only because I've been using him since SFII.
The graphics and sound are great as well. Sound is in Japanese with no English option, but I think Frank West is in English. Haven't unlocked him or Zero yet. As for the graphics, it's pretty sweet for the Wii. The cel-shading and animation is great and I would love to see more Capcom fighting franchises or VS series in this style. It works great! The backgrounds are good as well.
The only bad thing about the game is the roster since I don't know half of them. But they're still all interesting characters and fun to use. Also, I haven't tried online yet but people on the forums are saying that it's smooth with minimum lag. Once I get my internet working again (it's giving me trouble) it'd be a blast to play with you guys! So far my main is Ryu and Batsu. I thought Mega Man would be fun to use but he's kind of hard to play with! I have no idea how to play any of the Tatsunoko characters, but they seem like very basic Street Fighter moves only mixed around a bit.
The special moves are easy to pull off. There are still some stuff I need to learn how to do like infinite combo specials, cross over attacks, etc.. I only scratched the surface. And the classic controller is a must. Capcom gave casuals a easy control scheme with the nunchuck Wii-mote or just the Wii-mote by itself, kind of like the Gamecube version of Capcom VS SNK2. But for us, classic or if you guys have the cash, the joystick would be best. You can also use a GC controller.
So far, I really like this game! It's the best fighting game on the Wii, that's for sure and it'll hold us over until Super Street Fighter IV comes out. Even then I'll still be playing TvsC. It's refreshing to play a zany fighting game like this. I wish Capcom brought this over to the 360/PS3 since it would look great on HD, but I'm just glad it came to the US.
Score: 8.9/10 (the -0.5 from a 9 is because I'm unfamiliar with half of the roster. If they were all characters I knew than it'd be a 9 for sure!)

Yeah nothing more solid than blogs reporting from Famitsu. If it is the case, I'd be happy for MS in JP (where I want them to prosper), but sad for the US. I was hoping for something that was global -- but then I guess there is a reason they only promoted this in JP.
Makes sense for JP, it's time to move the PS2 players of Drgaon Hunter MMO onto a next gen console. Sad for Sony.
I hope it's not MH.
Oh well. At least we'll be getting a big Super Street Fighter IV news tomorrow as well. Time to find out who the rest of the roster will be!

So I guess it is Monster Hunter. It'll be $15 a month, y'ouch!
Also, Capcom released official release dates for SSFIV and Lost Planet 2.
Other announcements include some anticipated release dates. VG247 reports that along with the event's Japanese release dates, Super Street Fighter IV is now set for a U.S. release on April 27, with Lost Planet 2 following with a global release on May 18. Dead Rising 2 was less fortunate, receiving only a vague "2010" date. We'll update with new details as they become available.

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
I'd say it is a waste - since if the reports are to be believed, it's not a new game. It's a port of the PC game that was released a few years back.
Though if that announcement doesn't show off at least one SF3 character, I shall be disappointed.
Kotaku is reporting that Afro Samurai will be exclusive to the 360 version for SSFIV and that there are 3 rows of 12 character slots. So that means 11 new fighters?
I wonder what exclusive fighter PS3 gets.

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
Yeah, but those users that are still MMO'ing need to be moved to a new platform, and you know those guys will gladly buy a console to continue their accounts.
This doesn't let you off the hook, you still have to get a 360 this year.
That's assuming Capcom temper their expectations. I get the impression that they dont know what the hell they are doing, they expected Okami to become a multimillion seller just because they ported it to wii.
I'm a 80s turtles toon fan and they dont seem to have those designs or characters I would be better off getting that SNES Turtles Tournament fighting game.
There are tons of reasons why this wont sell. It doesn't have the Streetfighter branding, everyone already has SFIV or is waiting for SSFIV, Tatsukono features obscure 70s Japanese animation characters no one has heard of. In fact I doubt anyone has even heard of Tatsukono animation in the west.
Even the Capcom characters they choose are obsure (check the Destructiod review).
That's hot. Needs to be bigger though. The problem is, over here at least they have literally stopped making SDTVs, unless its some POS 14 inch LCD.
You playing on an HDTV right? Try putting your TV in 4:3 see if it makes a difference.
Yeah it's Frontier and because its a port of an old PC game visually its worse then MH3 on Wii.

Endless Ocean 2 with WiiSpeak for Cheap
Blue World ships stateside in less than a month -- February 22, to be precise -- and you'll be able to pick it up for a bargain bin price. The game retails for only $29.99 -- same as its predecessor. But while supplies last at participating retailers like GameStop and Amazon, it'll come bundled with WiiSpeak so you can communicate with your friend while the two of you explore virtual sea caves at night. (You know you want to.)
The deal is even more impressive when contrasted against the fact that Nintendo charged an extra $20 for the WiiSpeak-bundled version of Animal Crossing: City Folk -- the game retailed for $69.99 versus $49.99 -- when it debuted.
Nintendo has all but ignored the WiiSpeak accessory since it released it two years ago: Endless Ocean 2 is only the second first-party retail game to support the device in the US.
You U.S ASSHOLES.
It's full price in europe whereas the first game was budget price. And we get no wiispeak bundle. Bugs, the cheapest is £25 from game.co.uk
