What room are you in? If you're in the first big room area, you're supposed to get the statues to follow you out into that room from their wings on that floor, then place the statues in the depressions on the floor... which I think might be what you're calling altars. Is that right? Or are you someplace else?

Those little non moving statues? I'm at the first water temple. It deals with water rising and lowering again.

So, let me get this straight... you're in the third dungeon, the Tower of the Gods? I'm not sure where you're at and I'm not going to check in the game right now, but most of that dungeon is spent getting the statues to a room that will warp you up to near the top of the tower. Either pick up and carry the statues or play the command melody (I forget what it's called) to control them manually. You'll get that song in the same room that I said warps you farther up.

My memory was off when I said to place the statues in the depressions in the floor. Those are different statues, or they're urns or columns or something. And it deals with the first room of the dungeon.
