This is one I've always been borderline on. The idea's been there essentially from the start; the trade-off is on performance for an extra table join and comparison, but I'll give it another look.
Speaking of, the site seems to be much smoother in terms of speed and stability, so whatever back-end changes you have made over the last few months have been noticed. It's a solid site.
I've wondered if there was a way for you to scale it so that you could make it available (by pay or open source) to others who want to set up fitness sites, or pet animal sites, or tech sites etc...). Kind of the next step for proboards. My wife has her own community in a proboard ghetto, and there has to be thousands of other groups like hers that would benefit from more functionality than just forums. Probably a pipe dream.

Good thought, somewhat makes sense there.

The forum itself I've long looked at separating into its own project, but you're thinking more of a blog/forum/syndication package? Could you expand more? You've got me intrigued actually. A mid-range product actually makes sense. Whereas you have things like phpBB that do their own thing, or there are more complicated CMS' like Drupal that they plug into, but an integrated offering could prove useful. The primary 2 reasons I designed the site as proprietary were integration and performance.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile^Yeah, I'm thinking taking the site, as you have it and making it available to whoever wants to pay (or has the interest in) using the same tools. The forum, mail, news submittal, blogs etc... You know that people in their own hobbies are just as maniacal about keeping up on every detail of their own interest.
To make it accessible you'd have to provide a hosting option, as most hobbyists would not be technical enough to maintain it. It's a huge market, just look at all the user groups, but as we have seen with our site, marketing is just as, if not more, important as the actual innovation.

Yay Should have had them sooner, but I resist booting into Windows (where I do graphics editing with an ancient version of Photoshop). Can't wait for GIMP 2.8 because I might be able to make the switch when they fix the UI.

Leave it as a colour. Please dont put the word MOD by our usernames.
I would hate that.

Could you clarify the distinction?

You might as well brand a mark on my forehead. At least a colour is fairly inocuous.

Maybe we need a politically correct name for mod. Board sweeper? Happiness patrol person? Forum fairy?

I vote either:
Asshole Eliminator
or
Jerk Destroyer
If those cheesy names, or that horrible badge get approved, I'm out of here, forever.

The position of Forum Fairy has been filled already. Thank you very much!
