It's the inconsistency that bothers me. The ground looks kinda nice in the pic below, and the wall in the background is a bit plain jane, but fine. But then what the fuck is that monstrosity on the right?! (I wouldn't care if actually playing, but looking at screenshots is all about being a graphics whore.)
Yeah, funny I didn't even notice it playing because the rain effect looked so cool playing. The game hasn't received the attention it needs in details on every object or surface.
Is there any narrative reason for the weird hovering text, or is it just because it looks cool?
Looks cool, I think they did it before or around the same time as Heroes, certainly before Fringe. It's very useful because sometimes they stick the text on surfaces or objects you need to interact with.
Cool shots gamingeek. For me all games look great even Lego City with the lack of AA. But the best looking are LoZ WW HD, SM3DW, NFSWU, Pikmin 3 and Nintendo Land. Of those I have to get NFSMWU and Pikmin 3 but will wait to finish SM3DW and LoZ WW HD
Great to see you man. We mostly hang out on the news page. Pikmin 3 is fun, they recently gave us a free Christmas level.
Nice looking game, only hiccup is when running at full pelt the frame rate can drag a tad. It's noticible but nothing that impacts gameplay/enjoyment much.
Laureano Torres is such a badass name. I shall legally change my name to that.

Funny, just the other day I was thinking of changing my name to Taint Durf.
It looks okay to me but it will depend on your standards. Whilst I appreciate great graphics I'm relatively happy with a decent looking game. The textures are very low, if we imagine high res textures (on U) to be what's in NFS on U, and medium to be what PS3 and 360 can acheive, these textures are lower than the medium. But the lighting and shadows are nice and the art isn't ugly. It helps that half the levels are in darkness so you only occasionally catch reflections of detail.
Here are some comparison shots of PS3/360/U from Digital Foundry, remembering that they installed the texture pack on 360 which doesn't exist on U.
It's not a pretty game on any platform really. Only real difference is the texture pack, if you can see the difference from screens and video which I struggle to. And the U version has permanent vsync and a better true HD resolution while the other versions are upscaled to 720p. Other console versions have bad screen tearing:
PC obviously is the best.
