I saw Paranorman (In 3D) today. Holy shit it was awesome! It's the best looking stop motion film I've ever seen, the tone can be serious, funny, sad and dark, the 3D was phenomenal, there are tons of references of many horror films and they even mock low budget exploitation horror films at the start. It's just a phenomenal experience.
Just one note though: the film is not as dark and creepy as Coraline.

I saw it a week ago and I loved it too, it was a great conclusion (Specially considering the 3rd. part is usually the worse. Even Transformers is guilty of that!).
To annoy my wife I've recently taken to reading movie summaries from the TV guide on my phone (without telling her the name of the film).
Given how spoiler-sensitive we are in the gaming world I find these spoileriffic descriptions hilarious.
Here are some:
- Two beautiful sisters become mechanised killing machines in this offbeat Japanese horror-comedy. Shy Yoshie plays second-fiddle to her big sister Kikue, a popular hostess at the local geisha house. Both women fall under the sway of Hikaru Kageno, heir to a valuable steel company, who has developed an insane but ingenious secret plan to turn geishas into high-tech robotic assassins in a bid to destroy Japan.
- Bandit, Snowman and Frog attempt to earn $400,000 by transporting an elephant named Charlotte from a dock in Miami to a convention of Republicans in Dallas.
- Jamal Malik is an orphan from the slums of Mumbai. He is one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum, each chapter revealing the key to each answer in the game show's questions.
I mean why bother watching the movie? (Not that I do).

This was on television...?

I recognize that plot, it's Robogeisha! I love Noboru Iguchi's movies so I definetely thought that was normal (He is the director of The Machine Girl, Zombie Ass: Toilet Of The Dead, Dead Sushi, Tomie Unlimited and Karate-Robo Zaborgar).
If you can get it... watch it. You'll probably have a blast.

Yep, I'm just surprised it was on television here. Must have been SBS, but I still doubt it. The most obscure Asian film they've shown in years is Air Doll.

You are lucky, here in Mexico we mostly get (fairly awful) big budget movies on every movie channel 96-97% of the time (Like Armageddon, Volcano, The Day After Tomorrow, Transformers, etc.). The most obscure things I've seen in TV was I Saw The Devil, Caligula and The House By The Cemetary. And Caligula and I Saw The Devil were shown in Max Prime after their "usual" crappy softcore porn block.

Yeah, it's good really, but a decade ago they used to show random things that there was almost no chance you'd have a chance of seeing elsewhere, or even hearing about. And often good stuff too. So it's disappointing, but still a damn sight better than most places I imagine.

It's on SBS tonight.
I'm still trying to find out what the movie was I was watching on SBS one night. It was about a german reality TV producer that is being hunted by the victim of one of his shows. It was awesome.

Excellent. I suppose it's one better than Air Doll in the obscurity ranks, but still a few levels off their past.

How long ago? That sounds familiar to me.

Pretty sure I know what you're talking about then. Unfortunately I can't think of a title either.
Saw 21 Jump Street.
Decent, nothing great. Needed to be a lot smarter and/or a lot more vulgar. It tried to be good but tried a little too hard and obviously.
Just saw Expendables 2. If you liked the first you will love this movie. There are some differences though, I felt the first movie's action was better coordinated, it had better flow. In this movie it feels like a bunch of guys randomly shooting shit, in between some good fights. That said this movie is a lot more fun and funnier. Seeing everyone together is so awesome as in this one they fight. Arnold and Willis need to make a movie together. Van Damme surprised me the most, dude looks in incredible shape and he played the villain perfectly. Out of everyone its Arnold who is the most rusty, his one liners are delivered a bit rough and he just looks old. Characters drop in and out almost magically so it does feel a bit like a cameo fest but thats why you are watching this really.
The soundtrack in this film is just fantastic. Have you ever wanted to hear some oldies classics while a bunch of guys get shot up, believe me yes you do. "It's a beatiful morning! Da da da da da Ohh waa ohh" (shooting everywhere)
I thought Lungren was particularly good in the first one, reminded me of Universal soldier. Is he in this second one and how much of a part does he play?

He is hilarious in this one. He plays a drunk genius (yeah they added some backstory to the character) and its awesome. He is in the movie from start to finish though he doesnt have much action.
He a good guy in this one? I was glad they didn't kill him in the first film.

Yep, part of the team from start to finish.
I just saw Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D just because I lost a bet. And it's surprisingly decent.
I'm not a fan of her music (I like Teenage Dream, California Girls, Part Of Me and Wide Awake but again, I'm not a fan) but it does show a big part of her life (How she started as a religious singer, the reaction of her uptight parents with "I Kissed A Girl", the breakdown she had after her failed marriage, etc.) and her charisma, love to the fans and the stunning 3D (It's used sporadically but when it's used it looks fantastic) makes what could have been a Wikipedia/PR release something much more interesting.
Watched Batman movie today. I loved it.
