Anime watching update:
One Piece - the Foxy Pirate Davy Back fight is over and finished with a bang. But as a sporting event and story arc, it was very lacking compared to the epic of SKypia or the Marine Fortress. Then it follows up with a quick memory wipe story arc which is pretty bleh. Also the new awesome animation has reverted back to old designs and colours, wtf? This seems like an alternative studio did work on the series before reverting back to the old studio. Then as soon as the memory arc is over, we are back to Foxy? Ehhhh.
Psycho-Pass - nearing the end of season one, fun series basically a futuristic cop show with some moralistic dilemmas. After a couple of early wonky episodes it's all come together very well. Look forward to season 2.
Fairy Tail - magic games story arc is great fun, after the mildly disappointing but-still-good Infinity Clock arc. Lots of surprises, manic fights and intrigue too. Love this series.
Legend of Korra Book 4 - Seems better than book 3 so far, funnier too. However Korra herself is still a depressing, moaning joy sucking person.
Oh and Spice and Wolf the complete series just showed up along with FOTNStar Ovas collection.
Saw the first half of the Live Action Gantz movie, it was so boring and staid I had to give up on it.
So FMA Brotherhood creator Arakawa adapted a light novel into a manga and it has been made into an anime, 5 episodes so far.

I received the fifth and final Kill la Kill Bluray set today, and I watched disk-only Epilogue Episode #25. This is the true ending to Kill la Kill, and it was fucking awesome!

Huh, what happened?
And 5 sets for a series that short?
So I saw the first 7 eps of Durarara!!
Durarara!! tells the story of a dullahan working as an underworld courier in Ikebukuro, an internet-based anonymous gang called The Dollars, and the chaos that unfolds around the most dangerous people in Ikebukuro.
It's very unpredictable and quite disparate in its concepts. Very strange but very intriguing. There's a headless rider who goes about town fighting crime, a demon... ghost thing that slays things. And several powerful people, with almost supernatural strength but they are normal people. It's all very odd and yet seems to come together quite well.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Season 1 DVD Listed With English Dub
I saw HAL
A one hour long animated movie by the guys who did Attack on Titan. It's about a guy who's killed in a plane crash. His girlfriend is distraught and gives up on life so her grandfather has a robot pose as HAL to bring out her happiness again. I wont spoil the rest. This is a sweet, slightly melancholy movie, very nice to watch and doesn't outstay its welcome. It's pretty decent.
Finished New Fist of the North Star, a 3 part OVA
It was boring as heck, uttery fails to capture the 80s magic of the series. The story is limp, the action is no good, the music is flat. English dub is awful too.

Everything these people do that isn't season 2 is automatically worthless.

On episode 20 of Sword Art Online, I like it, it's a decent series but I just don't have the patience for it. It's too slow paced for me, I feel like I'm waiting around for the good stuff to happen and it hardly ever does.
I also think it could and should do a lot more in the real world. And more humour to spice things up. The concept for the series has potential but it doesn't really deliver enough thrills.
Durarara!! I'm on episode 13, strange series, with strange music, a truly an ensemble cast with no main character. It re-tells the same events through different perspectives. Sometimes it feels like a waste of time then it pulls it out of the bag at the last minute with something endearing, hilarious or exceedingly clever. The only real problem is the DVD authoring on the Ltd edition by All The Anime, there are no subtitles for signs or computer/text messages when you are watching in English. You have to have the english subs on permanently or rewind, put them on for sections, turn them off. It's ridiculous.
Also started Fist of the North Star Legend of the True Saviour which remakes the anime in a series of films for modern audiences and the anniversary. Animation is great, and I can recognise scenes from the anime but to newcomers I'm not quite sure they will understand this condensed version. Rao character model is way off the anime version though which I don't like at all.
Psycho-Pass Producer Expresses Interest in Making More
Also finished Fairy Tail Part 15 - what an amazing fight scene, so good. Good to see this series back on top form, the Grand Magic Games is awesome fun.
Saw the final episodes of X It was crap as expected. Problem was that if the good guys won, nothing would change so it was like a war of attrition. Also the way the guy won was corny and shitty as hell.

Godzilla's TOHO Sues Over Monster Film Starring Anne Hathaway
Durarara!! finally crossed the line into genuinely good territory. So strange and yet keep watching and it's a lot deeper than you think and very well connected. It's not a comedy but there are some outright hilarious moments too. So glad this got a full 24 episodes commissioned.
Fist of the north star legends of the true savior - just got FRIGGIN AWESOME. It remakes famous scenes from the series but it's like RE REmake compared to the Playstation original. Great directing, elevates the moment perfectly. It also looks great, and chunky very much like Jojos Bizaare Adventure without the weirdness and humour. The music is fantastic and they throw in lots of stuff for the fans like the original song YOU ARE SHOCK! LOL totally awesome. And Shu's march up the pyramid was like the Passion of Christ.
They even manage to weave Soga and Reina into the plot without it feeling hamfisted or revisionist like the prequel - Legend of the Dark Kings 13 episode origin story.
Even so I don't think people who haven't seen the series will get it - it remakes famous scenes, loosely links it together in a movie structure but the series is so epic there is no way a movie can do everything the series could - without it feeling truncated.
