Reviews are out and they are generally very positive. Seems like we got one hell of a war film with lots of fan service. So it hits on Thursday, I assumed everyone is going to see it so let's talk about it here. I can't wait to see Vader on screen again, not that crap we got at the end of episode 3.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers but the few reviews I've read said that it really is great, especially the third act.  Some have said the third act is like Empire level good.  I'll have to avoid this thread until I can see it on Saturday.  I'm so excited.

I'm interested in seeing how large a part the two Chinese actors got, they obviously included them for the Chinese movie market which is huge now.

Those two are pretty big in the east.

If you watch it on 70mm IMAX you can see 7 minutes of Christopher Nolan's new movie Dunkirk!

It kind of makes me wish I was seeing it in theaters instead of waiting for Starz. Also I don't know if we have a 70mm IMAX theater near me.

The closest one near me is in Philedelphia.

The closest one near Vader and Robio is in Tampa.

Rogue One is fantastic and I am blown away at how different they were allowed to make this movie. It didn’t really have that spirit of fun adventure that the main movies has, instead it’s far darker and more about the horrors of war. I loved how it took the Rebels and added depth to their whole fight. This movie actually makes ANH better.

The firsts hour is kind of messy, it’s jumping around too much, lots of exposition and intros to characters. Sadly most of the team is under developed. What’s not under developed is the action which was some of the best of the series. Plus it has the best final 5 minutes of any SW movie, it’s just mind blowingly awesome!!!!

SPOILERS

Its just great to see Disney letting a movie where everyone dies get made. There was no fluff around it, they just got killed one by one cause it’s war and it sucks. Our rebels were terrorists, murders, Assassins , it changes the view of them and I love that.

CG Tarkin was great and we needed more of him. I loved that they literally put scenes from ANH of the xwing leaders into the movie, that was hilarious. Vader was everything I could have hoped for, that one scene was magical.

The movie was exciting and fun. Made you view aspects of SW in different ways. I wouldn’t say it has the strongest characters nor the heart of the main movies but it’s a great entry and shows how cool these side movies can be.

The movie was amazing.  Different in tone from the SW episodes but also had the same spirit of fun that the others did.  I was pleased that a story that I had no interest in was actually quite compelling.  The characters were great  and I loved how they all banded together.  My only real complaint is how jarring a certain cgi character turned out.  Plus there were probably too many cameos.  The Star Wars universe is too big to keep running into the same folks.

Spoilers below.

-The reveal that the Death Star's weakness was an intentional design flaw was awesome.  I love that!

-I'm very pleased that they got Vader's suit right and it matched his ANH suit.  That shit would've bothered me forever.  I freaked out when he was in the Bacti tank.  I guess that's his only way to sleep.  And his castle is at Mustafar, the place where he got burned up.  That's fucked.

-The space battle was phenomenal and just a notch below Jedi's battle in my opinion.

Rogue One is a great film and worthy of the Star Wars name.

A little side note:  I got a little pissed during the previews when I saw that an eight Fast and Furious movie is coming.  Then I realized I was watching the eighth Star Wars film. LOL

Went and saw the movie today and it was excellent. It had to be more dark like that given how it was portrayed in A New Hope that many sacrifices were made to get the Death Star plans. Darth Vader's presence in this movie was amazing. The CGI characters were slightly odd looking which made it noticeable but it was still cool to see them there. Great action pieces.
