When you do that the boss will release items, one of them will be a rocket wisp, make sure you grab it. Run at it and hit it anywhere. The process will repeat, this time hit one of the sides, a rocket wisp should come out, get it and repeat. Two hits with the rocket is all you need.

Because Sonic is on rails and running automatically I thought you could just run left and right.

Escape level is bullshit. I get to the guy with the lasers and who comes in close to hit you. Then ladybug bikes flank me, the big guy drops off from visible sight, so you can't see where is he shooting you from and dodge. Only way to do is to stay close, but then there are these huge barriers that he smashes through and when you pass them you can't see what he doing so suddenly he will come at you with an unseen swing or laser up the ass. There has been no freaking checkpoint either so you have to go through:

3 laser dudes

then

ladybird bikes

then

massive douche.

Again and again, and again.

Yeah this level is a pain, at least its very short. Bust through the motobugs (the bikes) to get boost, just try to stay boosted the entire way.

I'm not sure how the scoring works in the game. I go back to do levels and sometimes get A's and I don't even know what I have done that is so special that I didn't do the first time. I guess I did the levels faster and died a little less.

Use wisps, they get you the most points.

I still don't know how this scoring works. I run about collect everything and get a C. I blast through as fast possible, collect nothing and get a B or A.

I explained it earlier, you need to use the wisps, get as many of the red coins as you can and finish with as much rings as possible. Each level has uses for the wisps, always find the paths that use the most wisps or lead to the most rings.
