That happened to me on Oblivion. I installed a shitonne of mods in a spree, and made the game unplayable.
Well, no big loss.
Ok I started unchecking one mod at a time to see if the game would stop crashing. Nope.
So I turned them all back on and just turned off the official texture pack from Bethesda...and now the game isn't crashing! So apparently I can load all the user created mods I want and the game runs great, but it can't handle Bethesda's official texture mod. Something is wrong with this picture.
That's the thing about PC....you have to be willing to deal with the bullshit to enjoy the superiority many times.
Honestly, most of the time things work fine...its only when I try to be a jackass and mod the shit out of stuff and create cyber black holes that things get shady.
I remember installing a patch which put Evil Dead 2 voice samples into Doom 1.
Ahhhhhh, good times.

Actually it makes 100% sense.

To be honest, that's exactly what I thought as well. If Beth can't manage to come up with a game that even runs appropriately across all platforms, why would they be able to provide mods that work? Leave it to the community to come up with actual working solutions, as it's the case with so many other developers.
I tried to post this on fucking Gamespot in the PC forum, but it kept telling me my post was blank and erasing everything I just wrote....ahhh, now I remember why I never post there anymore.
Anyway,
Hi guys,
Does anybody know if its overkill to be running the hi res texture pack at the same time as some of the lighting, water, and texture mods off Steam Workshop? I just started playing the game with all of these mods and while it looks great, the game crashes every time it loads a new area.
I have a Radeon Saffire 6950 graphics card, an AMD Phenom 9950 Quad Core, and 4 gigs of memory.
