LiN is what?
Doesn't having the new DLC set in a mansion, ye olde style seem somewhat of a re-run of what you can already play in REmake?
I'm wondering. It's a shame I wont get to play it without a hard drive.

Lost in Nightmares, the first episode, the mansion one. REmake was simply a old RE with better graphics, this is the mix of RE4 gameplay with old RE gameplay that so many have dreamed of.
SPOILERS SPOILERS
It was better the second time around. I increased the difficulty, played as Jill and played it old RE style with the old camera angles. WOW what a difference the old camera angles make, it went from a game where the hallways felt too crowded to freaking classic RE. It's the only way the first part should be played. One thing i do notice though, man pre rendered backgrounds look nice, I don't know which looks better with the old camera angles LiN or REmake.
This time the mansion had some keepers in it, freaking me out by poping out at random locations. Now it felt like RE, I had the classic view going, I had an enemy trying to kill me. It looked like RE0 cause it was two characters. Things changed, a got new weapons, the bats in the dog room didn't break the window. The second section was much harder, in fact all the keepers are flat out more aggressive in veteran mode and there are more of them. Then there was Wesker which went from badass to complete untouchable BADASS, this time i got through on the time I didn't "kill" him.
Afterwards I played it with a friend, it was his first time through. I let him lead the way and I loved seeing his reaction to everything. I was surprised a few times too cause enemies are totally random in this thing, you never know what to expect. We did pro mode, flew through it quickly and hit a brick wall with Wesker. I came up with the run around in circles strategy, apparently Wesker is all powerful except when it comes to people running in circles.
Nice second take, I didn't realise this was two player.
So how does the aiming work with traditional camera angles? Same as old? How do they balance the enemies then? Are they toned down?

Aiming is the same execpt you can of course aim in any direction, it isnt just up to aim up. The controls are identical, its just from a different persepective. The enemies in the first part (it is the only part with the old camera angles) are randomized, at most I saw two. Its only one enemy the entire episode, the same mutant thingy. So even with the camera angles its not hard to fight. It brings back memories though, and I felt it makes it much easier to run around when you get a wide view of the action. Oh and of course not being able to see in front of you with certain angles is freaky as hell, especially when you know the monster is coming.
Its really amazing what a difference of static camera makes to the game.

I dont quite get the aiming, in the old style you had a lock on and then up or down. How do you aim in any direction with the fixed camera? Is there a laser pointer dot on screen?

Yup, it is. Obviously trying to aim at a specific spot is near impossible from those angles, so I just pretended it was like old RE. When I aim I always know it is straight ahead so I just turned until the dot was on the enemy.
