You may be interested in checking out iPower, since it's an entire community devoted to making yourself a better person. I like watching their Youtube videos but I don't really have the time or effort to join their community.

Philosophy is only good to a point, then you know all there is to know and all you have left are paradoxes and dilemmnas, similar to why I think debating moral issues is a rather useless endeavour. Seek to know the facts, rather than just unjustifiable opinions.

You probably don't want to get into the cleanliness thing, it will only make you OCD and then you won't be able to stand anything out of place and you will be dusting daily LOL.

I always figured working in a call center would be the fastest way to make a person more social (or just hate people even more.)

Maybe look for lists like "100 things to do before you die". Obviously these lists often have a lot of BS, but it may give you some genuinely good ideas.

Like you hinted at in your original post, I think the main thing is to keep trying new things. Try some new activity, eat a new food (I can tell you right now not to bother with papaya, persimmon, or sugar cane Nyaa.)

I'm not at all a fan of charity in the sense of donating time or money to large bureaucratic not-for-profit corporations where 40% of the money goes towards administration, but I guess that once you reach a certain pinnacle in your life it probably makes sense to start helping / educating others. ie. Donating time and money directly to the thing you want to improve. Breeding your intelligence and abilities into others will probably contribute more to the world and last longer than anything else.

Summary:
General experiences over mastering skills -Unless you want to be in a world-class exclusive career, an 83% education is the same as a 94% one. Unless you want to be a professional musician to make a living, basic self-taught piano or guitar is equal to devoting 5 hours per day for 15 years to play like Mozart. In both cases, the former is probably better. Sure, you can't play absolutely amazing piano or be an engineer (nor would you want to be,) but all that time you weren't becoming a master of piano or studying 5 hours per night you were learning other skills. Especially the way our society is going, I think being a generalist and being decent at most things will be considerably more useful than being an expert at one or few things.
There is no such thing as ideal - We can't all be Steel, your penis will only stretch so much LOL

My only real personal goals at the moment are to eventually get back into shape (so I don't die from a heart attack or diabetes), and to be able to survive indefinately in the wild (so I don't die in the coming Great Depression and/or eventual potential apocalypse-type event.) And I guess in a vague sense, a move towards Zeitgeist-inspired... intangible... thing.

In my case, I'm starting at the top of Maslow's Pyramid and working my way down Uneasy. I think you are in the same boat as me in that regard. We have self-actualization and esteem, but skipped the love/belonging step entirely and filled the Internetz in it's place. And at the bottom of the triangle is Physiological... which is what I think I REALLY need to work on: Ability to get food and water without a supermarket. I feel that once I can support myself in a forest outside of society, I will be able to survive anything. Albeit much less comfortable than sitting in front of a computer, I think I would be much more at peace knowing that I can get free food/water/shelter anywhere, any time.

Less serious half of my post:

You sir win the "better person" award.

I'd also like to add an Exhibit B to Iga's initial argument:

Not going to work, Mirko Crocop broke Fedors nose with a punch. The only reaction Fedor showed was taking a step back.

'Made me hate Americans more, at least.

Some quick steps to improvement is learning some simple talents. Professionally, practically everything has to be proven with some sort of lience, so look into getting things like Smart Serve, a liquor license, delivery license, first-aid certificate, etc. There's tons of crap like this that can be gained through a one week course, most being fairly cheap, and each one creates multiple new career opportunities. It's quick certs and licenses like these that I plan on persuing once I get back into having a decent cash flow.

Uh, besides that, see sig for further details.

If we're speaking strictly on ideals, in terms of vegetarianism, while some would call eating meat unethical, it's much rarer to argue that not eating meat is unethical.

I just don't think this is accurate.  It seems quite the opposite actually.  Particularly in the programming where it's dominated by those who absolutely live for it.

Are you into science at all? Even just seeing what's up and not necessarily studying much? I recommend Science Daily, something a friend brought to my attention. It's full of cool stuff! My favorite science is physics, and I've read stuff by Stephen Hawking and Brian Greene... awesome, the things that could come out of theory, and the things that have yet to be explained by theory! Biology is also interesting, but I'm not too interested in the science in general beyond knowing about the concept and processes of evolution. Psychology greatly interests me because of its connection to reasoning and why we believe and think the way we do, especially as it relates to theism and other, similar, beliefs.

Ah Science.  I really do need to improve in this area, though moreso in the principles rather than news of advancements.  I get very weary of reading science news the unfortunate truth of the trade is that the news is of possibilities and maybes.  Perhaps this may be a breakthrough, a chance it will impact us five to ten years from now.  While interesting, 95% of it never directly results in anything (indirectly, yes, but that's not transparent).

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile
