I'll keep that one in mind, but those are the kind of problems that make themselves hard to replicate.  I take it refreshing the page then allowed you to post?

Yep. I'm also back on Kubuntu with Firefox 3.0b5, so there's that as well.  Just reporting it in case it comes up more often.

That's because Yoda coded a secret filter that blocks your messages if they're too shitty. He calls it: The GG Restrainer.

I should update the error messages to be more clear.  The invalid submission error is when your security token is mismatched.  An example of how to recreate this is to log into the site in Opera, then log into the site in IE, then try to post in Opera.

Oh.

So, whats with the quote bug? I click quote and then it reloads the page quickly and then I have to hit quote again sometimes.

That's not a behaviour that would result from anything happening in the code when you click Quote.

It keeps happening. Is it because I hit quote before the page has fully loaded?

I'm going to need something more concrete than "sometimes when I hit quote".  And are you updated to the latest version of IE8?

The functional process of the quote button is it's a relative link to the #editor element within the page.  The onclick even takes the innerHTML of the appropriate post on the page, and uses that to fill the textarea.  The only thing that could at all cause a pageload with be the relative #editor link, which won't since you're on the same page.  If you have a problem, in my estimation it's an IE bug where you've somehow mismatched the page URL (so for example, it thinks the URL is currently the forum board but is displaying a topic, in which case, it would think it was linking to an entirely different page).

In the mean time, I've done enough random quote clicking in IE8 without getting anywhere.

On a related topic, WTF are you still using IE8 for?

And yes, I am right.  It's a bug in IE8, which apparently can't handle anchor links containing query strings.  This will only occur when you follow a link directly to a comment (for example, the See comment >> link on the front page) then quote.  And only in IE8.

See?  IE ruins everything it touches.

And fixed a bug that showed the edit date of a post as the original date.  Apparently noone ever looks as the dates.  Also, added missing page title to user pages so they no longer just say The VG Press as the window title.
